With this wheelset, even racers can really let it go. The indestructible Industry Nine hubs and the excellently processed Newmen rims forgive driving mistakes. The balanced selection of components guarantees you a high level of reliability and a long service life.
Hubs
The Industry Nine Hydra Classic hubs are a real gem on every bike. Developed and produced in Asheville / North Carolina, they set themselves apart from the competition with many small technical refinements. With their externally sealed bearing and stable axle , they are optimally protected against environmental influences and also ideally equipped for downhill use. Beveled spoke flanges help to reduce the forces on the sensitive spoke heads and thus prevent spoke breaks.
However, the pawl freewheel on the rear wheel hub is revolutionary. It consists of a drive ring with 115 teeth and 6 staggered pawls. These are designed so that as soon as one of them has a frictional connection, the others can also absorb torque shortly afterwards. This means that a single handle can only carry the power for a very short time. The big plus of this system is an extremely short free travel of 0.52 °, which has clear advantages in technical passages or when accelerating hard. In addition, the fine grid leads to a unique background noise on the impeller.
The maintenance effort is also relatively low. You can disassemble and clean the hub without tools.
rims
Like all Newmen carbon rims, the Advanced rims are made of high-end UD fibers and impress with their first-class mechanical properties and low weight. They are the ideal basis for a stable all-mountain and enduro wheelset.
The hookless construction predestines them for tubeless use. The significantly reinforced rim flange withstands possible punctures better and allows driving with little air pressure. To avoid weak points, the spoke holes were drilled using a special process.
Due to the slightly outward-facing flanks, the shape of the tire is rounder, which results in significantly better cornering grip and increased safety.
Wheel construction at R2-Bike
Our wheels are completely assembled by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire construction process, it is important that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. The special care allows us to give a lifelong guarantee against broken spokes, as long as this was not caused by force!
