Helium - Currently the lightest telescopic seatpost on the market.
With the Helium, the guys from Vertical in Barcelona are defying all excuses when it comes to the extra weight of dropper seatposts. Thanks to a weight that ranges from 296 - 334g depending on length and diameter, it is still around 200g more than the lightest rigid seatposts, but the advantages on difficult descents and technical passages are undeniable.
The heart of the seatpost is a mechanical cartridge inside. The special design allows the seatpost to be fully extended or lowered to the maximum. Thanks to the absence of a hydraulic design, it is not only robust and durable, it will also never bob, give way or become soft and will always give you a direct riding experience.
The patented lock has no grooves or notches on the sliding tube of the cartridge. This design reduces the typical weak points of mechanically locked supports and increases the service life of the entire system. Weight can also be saved as the wall thickness of all components has been reduced to a minimum. The extension speed can be easily adjusted from the outside via the air pressure.
In order to be able to install everything in your frame, a lower tube unit is of course also required. As you would expect, attention was also paid to keeping the weight of this component as low as possible.To this end, Vertical has developed a unique manufacturing process to produce a carbon tube that has all the necessary grooves and slots on the inside that are required for optimum function. The extremely rigid structure of the tube minimizes possible deformations, such as those that can occur when saddle clamps are tightened too tightly.
ILC (Indepedent Locking Cardrige)
With every dropper seat post, the aluminum sliding tube is exposed to very high bending stresses. On conventional, mechanically locking seat posts, this tube is slotted or grooved, resulting in high stress concentrations that have to be compensated for by thick walls.
Vertical has developed and patented its own locking mechanism in which, similar to a hydraulic seat post, the sliding tube is smooth on the inside so that locking grooves can be dispensed with.
QSC (Quick Seat Clamping)
Fitting the saddle is a tricky job, depending on the post head. Vertical has also thought about this point in order to simplify this step. The captive titanium bolts are easily accessible and are connected to the post head via open-ended fastening straps. The wide adjustment range allows every rider to find the perfect saddle angle.
OCL (Optimal Carbon Layup)
The development and production of the carbon tube was one of the more complex steps in the development process. In addition to the high loads caused by the rider's weight, it also has to be sufficiently stiff so that it does not tilt when lowered and is quickly raised again when extended. In addition, the tube must be able to withstand the clamping forces of the seat clamp to ensure optimum function.
EDS (Easy Detachment System)
With the EDS system, the removal and installation of your Helium dropper post is done in seconds. Whether you want to maintain the post or use it alternately on several bikes, the EDS system makes it all possible without tools.
