Helium - The lightest telescopic seat post currently on the market.
With the Helium, the guys from Vertical from Barcelona stand up to all excuses when it comes to the extra weight of lowerable seat posts. Thanks to a weight that ranges from 296 - 334g depending on length and diameter, it is still around 200g more than the lightest rigid supports, but the advantages on difficult descents and technical passages are not obvious point.
The heart of the seat post is a mechanical cartridge inside. The special structure allows it to be fixed completely extended or lowered to the maximum. Thanks to the lack of a hydraulic design, it is not only insensitive and durable, it will also never rock, give in or become soft and will always give you a direct sitting feeling.
The patented closure does not require any grooves or notches on the cartridge's sliding tube. This design reduces typical weak points of mechanically locked supports and increases the service life of the entire system. In addition, weight can be saved because the wall thickness of all components can be reduced to a minimum. The speed of extension can easily be adjusted externally using the air pressure.
In order to be able to install everything in your frame, a lower tube unit is of course also necessary. As expected, care was taken to keep this component as light as possible. For this purpose, Vertical has developed a unique manufacturing process to produce a carbon tube that has all the necessary grooves and grooves on the inside that are necessary for optimal function. The extremely rigid structure of the tube minimizes possible deformations, such as those that can occur due to saddle clamps being overtightened.
ILC (Independent Locking Cardrige)
With every lowerable seat post, the aluminum slide tube is exposed to very high bending stresses. On conventional, mechanically locking seat posts, this tube is slotted or grooved. This creates a high concentration of stress, which must be compensated for by a thick wall.
Vertical has developed and patented its own locking mechanism in which, similar to a hydraulic seat post, the sliding tube is smooth on the inside, eliminating the need for locking grooves.
QSC (Quick Seat Clamping)
Depending on the support head, assembling the saddle can be tricky. Vertical has also thought about making this step easier. The captive screws made of titanium are installed in an easily accessible manner and are connected to the support head via fastening tabs that are open at the end. The wide adjustment range allows every rider to find the perfect saddle inclination.
OCL (Optimal Carbon Layup)
The development and production of the carbon tube was one of the more complex steps in the development process. In addition to the high loads caused by the driver's weight, it must also be sufficiently rigid so that it does not tilt when lowered and is quickly up again when extended. In addition, the pipe must withstand the clamping forces of the saddle clamp to ensure optimal function.
EDS (Easy Detachment System)
With the EDS system, removing and installing your helium dropper post is done in seconds. Regardless of whether you want to maintain the support or use it alternately on several wheels, the EDS system makes it all possible without tools.
