SRAM has dispensed with a chainring spider in order to optimize weight and allow better adaptation to the respective application. This not only increases the rigidity of the crank system, but also reduces the weight, as some additional components can be saved.
The chainring can be changed just as quickly as with the previous crank, but the crank must be dismantled for this purpose. However, the elimination of the spider means that an even greater variety of usable ratios is available, down to 26 teeth.
This feature makes the new Truvativ Descendant even more adaptable.The chainrings have a special tooth profile, X-SYNC 2, which prevents the chain from jumping off even in rough use and is thus reliably held in position even without a chain guide.
