Anyone who has long wanted a more linear behavior of their air suspension fork, similar to a fork with a steel spring, should take a closer look at the products from Trutune.
This insert can be used in the same way as a token, i.e. simply loosen the top cap, insert the insert, close the top cap - done. However, if you now set the known air pressure as it was before, you will quickly realize that it is too low. The reason for this lies in the technology of the insert. The activated carbon used has the advantage that, like a sponge, it can absorb more air than an empty space without this material. The air volume is therefore increased. Why is this done? This question is quickly answered. A larger air volume leads to a more linear spring characteristic curve in a corresponding suspension fork. This significantly improves the response and results in more predictable suspension behavior over the entire suspension travel. Lightweight riders in particular, who previously had to make compromises when choosing the air pressure and were often unable to use the entire suspension travel, benefit from this technology. However, anyone else who does not want to commit to a total weight with a steel spring can also use the insert, e.g. to increase the air pressure before a tour with more luggage.

This technology was originally developed for Audi, where corresponding systems have been in use since 2017. A revised version is now also available for bicycles. Further information, including installation, can be found on the manufacturer's website.

Note: The length of the insert corresponds to 4 tokens. The insert is not compatible with e-bike forks, as these use a different inner workings.
