SYNTACE pedals NumberNine2 Titan
The Syntace "Butterfly" base body has been further improved and optimized for use in extreme terrain.
The highly vulnerable lower corners of the pedal body have been chamfered to reduce the risk of "getting stuck" on stones and roots. In addition, the arrangement of the pins has been optimized to improve the grip on the pedal even further.
But Syntace lives up to the true meaning of the word "engineering" with this product - beyond any doubt and well thought out down to the last detail.
The "rider weight limit" of 140 kg reads almost mockingly when you think of competitor pedals.
100% ball bearings
Consistently applied physics: Rolling bearings have significantly lower coefficients of friction than plain bearings, especially under load. Especially when the latter have the everyday dirt ingress due to their design-related radial thrust washers. We therefore use precision ball bearings at all three bearing points of the NumberNine pedal. For you as a rider, this means that you get pedals with the lowest possible loss of performance. The harder you pedal, the greater the performance advantage.
If you build strong, you can build light
The Syntace monoblock pedal body: milled in one piece from 7075-T6 aluminum. All support arms and crossbars are designed exclusively as statically determined support profiles, without any slots, perforations or similar fashionable attributes. A modified profile allows the use of a hollow drilled, high-strength titanium axle. In the event of lateral camber effects, the axial force is absorbed in the pedal via a special robust end stop instead of via the ball bearings. The result: a sensational 280g in size M with a breaking load of over 500 kg (!).
Even flatter
Only 15.4 mm height despite the exclusive use of precision ball bearings. A flat pedal allows the rider's center of gravity to be lowered slightly and reduces the risk of touching down. The unsurpassed self-cleaning properties of the two huge window openings of the previous model have been retained without any loss of stability.
Supergrip
Sophisticated pin placement and a slightly concave pin arrangement in the NumberNine2 TITAN. The middle six pins are slightly lower than the outer eight pins, which sit on raised continuous bars: This increases safety against the shoe slipping off the pedal unintentionally, without restricting movement on the pedal too much. For further customization, the Syntace pin concept - with a pin configuration of 22 pins per pedal which do not all have to be screwed in - allows you a range from "slightly adhesive" to "as if glued on".
Healthy teeth
Special, high-strength aluminium pins which are significantly more break-proof than conventional designs. Additionally equipped with a robust, built-in predetermined breaking point. The slim, aggressive M4 flat collar shape not only provides better interlocking, especially with soft shoes, thanks to the flat hexagonal attachment, but also allows the pins to be replaced without damaging the thread after damage or wear.
Always nice and level
The Syntace Always-Right-There system brakes the pedal smoothly without load just enough so that it remains in its position when the foot is lifted and is immediately ready in the correct position when the foot is put back on. The little "helper" has no noticeable or measurable disadvantages during normal pedaling, as it is not in the power flow (see "Ball bearings")
GreaseGun Ready
The built-in, dirt-proof Syntace Grease Port and the further developed bearing construction, which is open on one side on the inside, make the NumberNineTitan2 pedal greasable from the outside in seconds. Bearing life is extended many times over compared to conventionally lubricated ball bearings.
No loopholes for water and dirt
Apart from the actual axle exit, the Syntace NumberNine2 TITAN pedal is completely airtight and watertight. This is because the pedal body rotates completely closed over the outer pedal axle end, the most dirt- and water-sensitive (un)sealing point on the entire pedal. This is an area where many glide pedal manufacturers have not even attempted a serious seal or even show off openly rotating pedal axles. On the Syntace NumberNine pedal, the only necessary sealing package is located on the inside of the axle thread, easily recognizable by the large red precision radial shaft seal ring specially developed by Syntace. The pedal body housing, which is pulled further inwards, is well protected by the crank arm directly in front of it.
Every rider's pedal size
The Syntace NumberNine2 pedal is available in three sizes. This is because the pedal size must match your shoe size.
