According to Syncros, the Capital SL Aero is one of the fastest wheels in the world. It not only impresses with its extravagant design, its technical features are also absolutely convincing.
The unique construction is recognizable at first glance. Everything appears to have been cast from a single mold. And that is not deceptive. The rim, spokes and hub ring are made of high-strength SL carbon fibers in monocoque construction. This avoids potential weak points during production and creates smooth transitions. In addition, any forces that occur can be better distributed, which prevents damage, particularly in the event of extreme load peaks, such as punctures.
Another positive effect of this design is the ultimate rigidity. Where there are no extra connection points, nothing can twist. Even heavy acceleration is immediately converted into propulsion and you have absolute directional stability and therefore safe handling at all times.
The aerodynamics are probably second to none. Not only the rim height has an important influence, but also the transitions and shapes of the individual components. And even here the Capital SL scores points. The flowing transitions between the rim and spokes mean that the wind has hardly any chance of attack, and the latter are naturally flattened so that braking turbulence cannot occur in the first place.
In addition to stability and aerodynamics, the cross-section of the rim plays an important role in performance. Syncros opted for a rim flange without hooks. This is reinforced and can therefore withstand hard impacts. In addition, the tire fits better on the sidewall, which ensures a perfect seal, especially when riding tubeless.
The inner width of the rim is very generous at 25 mm. Even wider tires have a rounded shape and are reliably supported, so you always have a direct ride feel and the best grip.
At the center of the wheel is a custom DT Swiss 240 hub. Not much needs to be said about it. Its indestructibility and reliability have been proven a thousand times over and it fits perfectly into the overall appearance of the Capital SL Aero. The smooth-running bearings, perfect sealing and ease of maintenance make it the first choice for this task and guarantee high mileage.The toothed pulley freewheel system with its large contact surface and 36 engagement points ensures extremely efficient power transmission and impresses with its cool sound.
All in all, Syncros has succeeded in developing an advanced and lightweight wheel that also has a low inertia load, so you will not only be impressed by it when gliding along quickly on flat terrain, but it also shows its strengths in mountainous terrain or sprinting.
NOTE: Due to the hookless profile, the Syncros Capital wheels are only suitable for use with ETRTO-compliant tubeless tires.
