The Shimano SLX groupset has been a top seller on the bike market for years. It is considered perfect in performance, very reliable and durable. The 12-speed version also continues this tradition.
SHIMANO SLX shifters SL-M7100 12-speed
As one of the contact points, the shifters are an important link between rider and bike. Compared to the M7000 shifter, the operating forces have been reduced by 35% thanks to a modified gear ratio in combination with a lower cage tension on the rear derailleur. The tried-and-tested Rapidfire Plus shifting logic with levers that can be shifted on both sides (2-way release) has been carried over from the previous version. However, the M7100 shifter with its revised inner workings shifts faster thanks to Instant Release. The shift cable is released immediately when the lever is actuated, allowing the rider to react even more quickly to changing track conditions.
With the I-Spec EV version, the lever can be attached to the M7100 brake levers to save space. In addition, mounting using the new standard offers a 14 millimeter wide lateral adjustment range and the shifter can also be rotated by 60 degrees.
SHIMANO SLX rear derailleur 1x12-speed RD-M7120-SGS Shadow+ long cage
The SLX M7000 rear derailleur was already known for its clean shifting and smooth chain movement. With the M7120, these characteristics have been further improved and even faster gear changes have been achieved. The rear derailleur was redesigned from the ground up in order to be equipped for the extreme bandwidths of cassettes with 10-45 teeth. The derailleur pulleys are positioned in such a way that they keep the chain at the optimum distance from the cassette in all gears. The size of these has also been increased to 13 teeth. This not only provides the chain with better guidance, but also ensures smoother and more energy-efficient running. The Shadow+ system also prevents annoying chain slap on rough surfaces.
SHIMANO SLX crank Direct Mount 1x12-speed FC-M7120-1 | without chainring
With the M7120 SLX crank, Shimano has taken a big step forward in several aspects. Probably the most striking innovation: The M7120 is designed for direct mount chainrings. Thanks to the special DCE+ Narrow Wide profile of the teeth and the Hyperglide+ chain design, the 55 millimeter offset of the chainrings is suitable for 148 millimeter BOOST and rear wheel hubs.
Shimano continues to rely on the proven Hollowtech 2 technology with a 24 millimeter crankshaft for the crank design. The design of the current generation of cold-forged aluminium cranks has been optimized to further reduce weight and increase stiffness at the same time.
SHIMANO SLX SM-CRM75 chainring Direct Mount | 1x12-speed
Here come the matching 1x Direct Mount chainrings for the FC-M7100/7120 SLX cranks. With their special Dynamic-Chain-Mount+ design, they guide the CN-M7100 chain safely and with low vibration even on rough trails. In combination with the Hyperglide+ chain, the chainrings work with standard, BOOST and SuperBoost Plus rear hubs.
The chainrings are attached to the crank with a lockring, which has the mount for the Shimano bottom bracket tool. Shimano also offers a special tool for mounting the thin lockring for easier handling. The chainrings are available with 30-34 teeth.
SHIMANO SLX cassette 12-speed CS-M7100 | 10-51 teeth
Smooth and precise shifting has always been a hallmark of Shimano cassettes. In the Hyperglide cassettes of the last generations, the sprockets were positioned in such a way that the chain runs extremely smoothly and with little vibration, especially when shifting to a larger sprocket. With the SLX M7100 cassette, Shimano introduces Hyperglide+. Thanks to this technology, shifting now runs just as smoothly even when shifting into a heavier gear and is 1/3 faster than with the CS-M7000 cassette.
SHIMANO SLX CN-M7100 12-speed chain | 126 links with chain lock
The CN-M7100 chain is specially designed for the M7100 chainrings and cassettes. Thanks to cut-outs on the inside of the plates, the chain harmonizes perfectly with the Dynamic Chain Engagement+ (DCE+) Narrow-Wide tooth profiles of the new SLX chainrings. The design results in a tighter fit of the chain on the teeth. Vibrations are avoided and the smoother chain run is not only noticeable when pedaling, but also manifests itself acoustically through a quieter drive. Thanks to a new chromed surface in combination with the proven SIL-TEC coating, the service life of the chain has been kept at the same level as the M7000 chain, despite the smaller outer width.
SHIMANO XT bottom bracket SM-BB800
These bottom brackets complete the groupset. They are of typical high production quality and equipped with maintenance-free, smooth-running bearings. Two different versions are available: BSA or PressFit with 41 mm diameter in the bottom bracket shell.
