The Shimano Deore XT groupset has been a top seller on the bike market for years. It is considered perfect in performance, very reliable and durable. The 12-speed version also continues this tradition.
SHIMANO Deore XT shifters SL-M8100 12-speed right | with clamp or I-Spec EV
As one of the contact points, the shifters are an important link between rider and bike. Compared to the M8000 shifter, the operating forces have been reduced by 35% thanks to a modified gear ratio in combination with a lower cage tension on the rear derailleur. The tried-and-tested Rapidfire Plus shifting logic with two-way release on the right-hand side has been carried over from the previous version. However, the M8100 shifter with its revised inner workings shifts faster thanks to Instant Release. The shift cable is released immediately when the lever is actuated, allowing the rider to react even more quickly to changing track conditions.
With the I-Spec EV version, the lever can be attached to Deore XT M8100 brake levers to save space. In addition, the new standard mounting offers a 14 millimeter wide lateral adjustment range and the shifter can also be rotated by 60 degrees.
SHIMANO Deore XT rear derailleur 1x12 RD M8120-SGS Shadow | long cage
The Deore XT M8000 rear derailleur was already known for its clean shifting and smooth chain movement. With the M8100, these characteristics have been further improved and even faster gear changes have been achieved. The rear derailleur was redesigned from the ground up in order to be equipped for the extreme bandwidths of cassettes with 10-45 and 10-51 teeth. The derailleur pulleys are positioned in such a way that they keep the chain at the optimum distance from the cassette in all gears. The size of these has also been increased to 13 teeth. This not only provides the chain with better guidance, but also ensures smoother and more energy-efficient running. The Shadow+ system also prevents annoying chain slap on rough surfaces.
To get the best performance, Shimano recommends using this rear derailleur only with 1x12-speed drivetrains.
SHIMANO Deore XT cranks Direct Mount 1x12 FC-M8100
With the M8100 Deore XT crank, Shimano is taking a big step forward in several aspects. Probably the most striking innovation: The M8100 is designed for direct mount chainrings. Shimano continues to rely on the proven Hollowtech 2 technology with a 24 millimetre crankshaft for the design of the crank. By optimizing the design of the current generation of cold-forged aluminium cranks, it has been possible to further reduce weight and increase rigidity at the same time.
The 52 millimeter offset of the FC-M8100 crank is suitable for both BOOST and standard rear wheel hubs. The FC-M8120 crank has a chainline of 55 mm and is therefore only intended for the BOOST standard.
SHIMANO Deore XT SM-CRM85 chainring Direct Mount | 1x12
Here are the matching 1x Direct Mount chainrings for the FC-M8100/8120 Deore XT cranks. With their special Dynamic-Chain-Mount+ design, they guide the CN-M8100 chain safely and with low vibration even on rough trails. In combination with the Hyperglide+ chain, the chainrings work with standard, BOOST and SuperBoost Plus rear hubs. The chainrings are attached to the crank with a lockring, which accommodates the Shimano bottom bracket tool. For easier handling of the thin lockring, Shimano also offers a special tool for installation. The chainrings are available with 28-36 teeth.
SHIMANO Deore XT cassette 12-speed CS-M8100 | 10-45 teeth
Smooth and precise shifting has always been a hallmark of Shimano cassettes. In the Hyperglide cassettes of the last generations, the sprockets were positioned in such a way that the chain runs extremely smoothly and with little vibration, especially when shifting to a larger sprocket. With the XT M8100 cassette, Shimano introduces Hyperglide+. Thanks to this technology, shifting now runs just as smoothly even when shifting into a heavier gear and is 1/3 faster than with the CS-M8000 cassette.
SHIMANO Deore XT CN-M8100 12-speed chain | 126 links with chain lock
The CN-M8100 chain is specially designed for the M8100 chainrings and cassettes. Thanks to cut-outs on the inside of the plates, the chain harmonizes perfectly with the Dynamic Chain Engagement+ (DCE+) Narrow-Wide tooth profiles of the new Deore XT chainrings. The design results in a tighter fit of the chain on the teeth. Vibrations are avoided and the smoother chain run is not only noticeable when pedaling, but is also noticeable acoustically thanks to a quieter drivetrain. Thanks to a new chromed surface in combination with the proven SIL-TEC coating, the service life of the chain has been kept at the same level as the M8000 chain, despite the smaller outer width.
SHIMANO Deore XT bottom bracket SM-BB800 (for an extra charge)
These bottom brackets complete the groupset. They are of typical high manufacturing quality and equipped with maintenance-free, smooth-running bearings. Two different versions are available: BSA or PressFit with 41 mm diameter in the bottom bracket shell.
