The REX company has made a name for itself primarily in ski racing with special waxes. They are now applying their 60 years of experience to the development of outstanding lubricants for the cycling sector. The wax-based REX Black Diamond chain lubricant has recently proven its strengths. On the Zero-Friction test bench, it took first place by a large margin in the long-term test. No less than 1000 kilometers can be driven under dry conditions with one chain lubrication. The secret of the wax-based chain lubricant is the diamond-hard and durable Black Diamond nanoparticles, which are mixed in small quantities with a lubricant in a time-consuming ultrasonic process to ensure the best quality. As an additional "seasoning", the water-repellent REX N-Kinetic Polymer is added, which improves corrosion protection and function in particularly cold conditions. On the chain, the nanoparticles form an extremely resistant surface that prevents metal rubbing against metal. Even when exposed to dirt, the protective film remains in place for a long time and is able to close again to a certain extent. In practice, this means an extremely long service life with just one lubrication. The low frictional forces also increase the service life of the drive components. In contrast to other wax-based lubricants, Black Diamond does not require a drying time of several hours before it reaches its full function. Simply apply one drop per chain link (inside), turn the crank backwards several times and ride off. Rex lubricants also do not have the beading effect of wax particles, which makes them a perfect choice for indoor use. The Black Diamond lubricant is manufactured in our own factory in Hartola, Finland.
Tested in the laboratory
Wheel Energy Oy's laboratory is one of the few laboratories in the world that specializes in measuring power transmission losses. This domestic laboratory, which has been used by professional teams and competitors, was also an important partner in the development of the REX Black Diamond. In a dynamometer test simulating a 300-mile race, the REX Black Diamond achieved the best result, leaving competing high-end chain oils behind. The test report was prepared by Wheel Energy without instructions from REX. In addition to the laboratory tests, the Black Diamond has also won many races and already won a stage victory at the Tour de France in the 2019 release year.
