Less is sometimes more, at least when it comes to a few relaxed laps in the bike park. If you ride down the mountain a lot and spend even more time on the jumpline, you don't necessarily need the complexity of a sensitive rear derailleur. The Colab Pro chain tensioner is the latest addition to the single-speed series from Reverse Components. With the chain tensioner, you can convert your bike to a single-speed drivetrain. This makes your bike less susceptible to crashes, saves weight and is easy on your wallet.
The Pro version of the chain tensioner offers the strongest tensioning force for the chain and holds it reliably in place on your freeride or downhill bike. The tensioning system is encapsulated, so the tension spring cannot become dirty and lead to a reduction in function. The chain tensioner therefore retains its high tensioning force and reliability over the long term.
The chain line can be infinitely adjusted (0 - 19 mm) and the adjustable stop limiter keeps the chain tensioner in the position you have set, even when the chain is cut. To ensure that the chain tensioner sits securely on the derailleur hanger, a snorkel washer has been integrated. This prevents it from slipping in the event of vibrations.
The Colab Pro chain tensioner also has infinitely variable damping adjustment. This feature is a very useful detail if you want to convert your downhill or freeride bike to a single-speed drivetrain. This function regulates how quickly the chain tensioner builds up force to tension the chain when the rear triangle compresses. This allows you to adjust the function of the chain tensioner directly to the performance of your suspension so that the chain tensioner does not affect the compression of the rear triangle. The Colab Pro has a cage lock so that removing the rear wheel is just as easy as with a conventional rear derailleur. The application is just as simple. Simply move the chain tensioner towards the front wheel (relax) and then engage the lock pin. You can then remove the rear wheel quickly and easily.
Fitting the chain tensioner is simple and quick. The chain tensioner is mounted on the derailleur hanger and the chain line is adjusted using the infinitely variable adjustment option. Note: To be able to use the Colab Pro chain tensioner, you also need a single speed kit, which consists of the corresponding sprocket and spacers and replaces the usual cassette. You can of course find these items separately in our online store.
When fitting the chain tensioner, it is important to shorten the chain so that the full rear suspension travel is available. The chain tensioner can be fitted to all frames with standard derailleur hangers, as well as to UDH derailleur hangers. The instructions in the user manual must be followed during installation.
