Race Face heralds a new era with these handlebars, in the truest sense of the word.
A lot of development work has gone into these carbon handlebars, with a particular focus on the balance between comfort and stiffness. The scheme behind this is called GL tuning (Goldilocks Tune), the balanced tuning of vertical compliance. Briefly explained: most handlebars on the market are now around 800 mm wide and can be shortened to a certain extent and therefore adapted to the rider and bike, but this also changes the characteristics of a handlebar. The stiffness increases and the flex decreases. When shortening from 800 to 760 mm, this is already around 24 %, resulting in arm pump and signs of fatigue in the hands and forearms. In order to achieve the best GL tune, Race Face also offers the Era SL handlebars directly in 760 mm width. The handlebars also come in a flip-flop design, so that a rise of +6 mm or -6 mm is possible without changing the fit. This means that the backsweep and upsweep remain identical regardless of the selected alignment. In combination with the Turbine SL stem, you can vary the cockpit height by up to 24 mm and adjust your riding position perfectly for XC races, long tours or demanding downcountry descents.
