This wheelset can withstand the special stresses of an e-bike drive. The indestructible Tune hubs and the superbly crafted Newmen rims are forgiving of the occasional riding error. The well-balanced selection of components guarantees you a high level of reliability and a long service life.
Hubs
The Pro 5 e-bike hubs from the English cult manufacturer from Barnoldswick are at the center. The experience gained from 30 years of designing and manufacturing high-quality drive elements has been incorporated into their development with the aim of improving proven technology in order to meet the demands of current and future bicycle technology.
The design of the rear hub differs significantly from its predecessor, with an enlarged body that generates more rigidity without increasing the weight. This is noticeable above all in a much more direct ride. At the same time, the diameter of the spoke flange has been increased, making it easier to build very stable wheels.
The highlight of the rear wheel hub is the new freewheel system with 6 pawls. All six are engaged simultaneously when riding and can absorb and distribute the high power of the e-bike drive evenly. In addition, the freehub gearing has been increased from 44 (Pro 4) to 54 teeth, resulting in a low freewheel travel of just 6.66°.
The hub can withstand negative external influences for a long time, thanks to the high-quality anodization and the very well-sealed stainless steel industrial bearings. Should the ravages of time take their toll on the hub, it can be dismantled and serviced with little effort. It can also be easily converted to a different hub standard.
Rims
Newmen offers a special rim for every application within the Beskar series. Whether cross-country, all-mountain or downhill, you will always get a model that is uncompromisingly customized, but they all have one thing in common: Newmen's high quality.
With the Beskars 30 on your bike, you will be the absolute king on every adventure. They shine with low weight and first-class riding characteristics. The perfectly crafted aluminium is impact-resistant anodized and, together with the slightly angular cross-section, gives the rims incredible stability. This enables precise steering movements at all times. The rim joint has been elaborately welded and ground and guarantees a long service life. The very generous inner width of 30 mm gives the tire an optimally rounded shape, which is reflected in better grip and more comfort. The latter is also promoted by the very flat profile. Newmen has opted for a rim flange with hooks. This means that the tire sits securely at all times, even in difficult passages or with low air pressure, and the risk of it coming off is significantly minimized. Depending on the area of use, it is also reinforced and can easily withstand punctures.
Newmen also recommends the use of MG washer washers for the Beskar. These ensure very high "Spoke-Pull-Out" values on the rim base, despite the low wall thickness there, and thus bring additional rigidity to the wheel.
Spokes
The Race spoke is the classic from Sapim! It is a round spoke with a butted center section with a diameter of 1.8 mm. This provides more damping than non-tapered spokes. In addition, short load peaks can be better digested. The Race spoke enables very stiff and stable wheels for practically any application. The weight including nipple is approx. 6.95g per piece.
Wheel construction at R2-Bike
Our wheels are assembled completely by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire assembly process, great importance is attached to ensuring that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. This special care allows us to give the first owner a lifetime guarantee against spoke breakage, as long as it was not caused by force.
