Hubs
CHRIS KING hubs have a certain myth attached to them. They have been on the market for years and yet they are not old hat. Thanks to their proven technical inner workings, constant further development in detail and unmistakable appearance, they have become a true cult object.
Thanks to the large hub flange of the ISO hubs, shorter spokes can be used when building wheels. This not only saves weight, but also makes for a very stable and durable wheel.
The unmistakable sound of the freewheel is the trademark of the rear hubs. Chris King himself calls it the "Angry Bee Sound", which is generated by the 72 grid points of the stainless steel sprocket. Thanks to this 3-piece RingDrive system, every pedal stroke is immediately converted into propulsion without much idle travel.
At the heart of the hub are the ball bearings. These are also developed and produced directly at Chris King. This means they can be fully adapted to the specific loads and forces. Thanks to the multiple seals, the ingress of water or dirt is virtually impossible.
These unique features are still part of the hubs in the 4th generation, but the inner workings have been fundamentally improved in terms of maintenance and service. Thanks to universal and versatile axle components, conversion to other hub or freewheel standards has become much more cost-effective. The use of common bearing sizes guarantees better compatibility with each other. The disassembly and assembly of the hub has also been significantly simplified and the preload can be adjusted more precisely.
Rims
If you don't want to compromise, here is the perfect rim for your adventures. Very light, stable and durable, there are no limits to its XC use and your opponents will only see your rear wheel. And we haven't skimped on safety either, as it is approved for a system weight of 100 kg.
How did the developers achieve this? First and foremost, of course, the choice of material plays an important role. Not all carbon is the same. The decision was made to use high-quality T700 fibers from Toray Industries, one of the world's leading suppliers of this material. These have incredible strength, are very stiff and also weigh very little. However, high-end material alone does not make a high-quality product. It also depends on the manufacturing process, which is where the rims score points. Their sandwich construction combines different carbon layers. This enables specific, punctual reinforcements and therefore greater overall stability of the rim without increasing the weight.In addition, a carbon strip was used in the spoke hole area to prevent the nipples from tearing out and to allow higher spoke tension.
The unique, flawless look in an elegant matt finish is also achieved using a special resin. This allows the carbon layers to harden perfectly, prevents bubbles from forming and ensures a resistant surface. This means that even stone chips cannot harm it.
The hookless rim flange ensures the best tubeless compatibility and high puncture protection. This has been specially reinforced to distribute the forces over a larger area. This significantly reduces the likelihood of damage in the event of punctures. Lateral bruises are also much easier to absorb, so you can be forgiven for the odd riding mistake.
The rim has an asymmetrical rim profile, which enables a more even spoke angle. This optimization has a number of advantages. The tension on both sides can be better aligned, which is beneficial to the durability of the spokes and the wheel as a whole. The normally direction-dependent lateral stiffness is also adjusted, making the wheel more stable in itself.

During the entire assembly process, great importance is attached to ensuring that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. This special care allows us to give the first owner a lifetime guarantee against spoke breakage, as long as it is not caused by force.
