With this wheelset you can really let it rip downhill. The indestructible Newmen hubs and the excellently manufactured Race Face rims are forgiving of the occasional riding error. The well-balanced selection of components guarantees you a high level of reliability and a long service life.
Hubs
The Newmen FADE hubs will also find many fans again. Here too, you don't need to worry about adjusting the axial bearing play. The durable, double-sealed industrial bearings are pressed in precisely and tension-free ex works. This further development has resulted in a high degree of user-friendliness. The time you save can be better spent on your favorite trail.
The design of the freewheel is completely different from the previous model. The aim was to keep noise levels low. The result was the FADE pawl system. Three pawls engage in a new type of tooth profile. To increase durability, the diameter was increased and the individual pawls were made short and wide. This distributes the resulting forces over a larger area.
Despite the relatively low weight, safety has not been compromised. It is better to use a little more material at critical points, such as the transition between the brake disk and spoke mount, than to risk a defect.
Rims
The ARC rim has become one of the favorite rims of wheel builders from all over the world. The new offset versions allow even stiffer and more durable wheels to be built. This is achieved by a more balanced spoke tension between the drive side and non-drive side.
A specially shaped rim bed with a central recess and minimalist, short hooks on the rim flange holds the tire securely on the rim in every situation, even at low air pressures. The larger contact area of the tire also significantly improves grip.
The rim is made of forged 6069 aluminum, the joint is plugged and additionally glued to increase durability and reduce weight. The black anodized finish saves weight and gives the rims a subtle look with their vinyl decals. Of course, the rims can be converted for tubeless use.
Wheel construction at R2-Bike
Our wheels are assembled entirely by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire assembly process, great importance is attached to ensuring that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. This special care allows us to give the first owner a lifetime guarantee against spoke breakage, as long as it was not caused by force.
