Hubs
The FADE R rear hubs will also find many fans. Anyone looking for a lightweight yet durable wheel center will find them hard to ignore.
Newmen's many years of experience can already be seen from the external appearance. The very elaborate and filigree workmanship inspires a great deal of confidence. Thanks to the clean anodization, the hub withstands even the most adverse weather conditions and retains its beauty even after many kilometers. In addition, the slim design ensures very good aerodynamics without sacrificing stiffness or steering precision.
Of course, the inner values will also convince you: only high-quality, double-sealed industrial bearings with a special lubricant are used. This special grease offers a 25 % higher water absorption capacity, which protects the bearings from premature wear and corrosion. It also ensures that the bearings run smoothly. Of course, you don't need to worry about adjusting the axial bearing play on the FADE R either. The bearings are already tension-free and precisely pressed in at the factory, so you can spend the time you save on your favorite trail.
Safety has not been spared either, with reinforcements at critical points such as at the transition between the brake disc and spoke mounts, even allow approval for E-Road and E-Gravel bikes, while non-critical areas require less material, thus saving weight.
The freehub has also been adapted to the ever-increasing torques. It has a significantly larger diameter and can therefore distribute the load better. Newmen continues to rely on 3 pawls, which engage in 36 ratchets. The pawls are very wide and have a specially shaped tooth profile, which generates a pleasant and restrained noise and ensures gentle power transmission.
Rims
With their extravagant design, the Light-Bicycle Falcon Pro Turbo rims are not just a visual highlight. With their modern rim profile, they are also state-of-the-art in technical terms and can play to their strengths on a wide range of wheel types. With an inner width of 25 millimetres and an outer width of 34.5 millimetres, they not only integrate 28 to 32 millimetre wide road bike tires perfectly into the rim profile in terms of aerodynamics, they also provide excellent support for all-road and gravel tires up to a width of 50 millimetres at low air pressures. In addition to the rim height, the tapered turbo rim profile helps to reduce drag and improve crosswind stability at the same time. The shape also improves the stiffness of the rims, which is reflected in a more direct power transmission in the assembled wheel. The tubeless inner profile with rim hooks ensures a secure tire fit on the rims.
Despite the elaborate rim design, the weight of the rims is very low thanks to a complex manufacturing process.
Thanks to this special BlackTek manufacturing process, the Falcon Pro rims come out of the autoclave as a finished product and require no post-processing. This not only makes the manufacturing process more environmentally friendly than conventional methods, the rim surface is also significantly harder and therefore more resistant to mechanical stresses during driving.
Extra-thin and lightweight carbon prepregs are used in the production of Falcon Pro rims. This makes it possible to stack more carbon layers in critical areas to achieve greater stability without weight disadvantages and to keep the overall weight of the rims extremely low.
Wheel construction at R2-Bike
Our wheels are assembled entirely by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire assembly process, great importance is attached to ensuring that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. This special care allows us to give the first owner a lifetime guarantee against spoke breakage, as long as it was not caused by force.
