Hubs
After the NON+ MTB hubs made a name for themselves among lightweight builders worldwide, the decision was made to transfer their unique technical properties to an ultra-lightweight pair of hubs with center-lock brake disc mounts for road and gravel use.With their slim hub bodies for straight-pull spokes, the NON+ Road hubs fit perfectly into the overall look of modern road bikes. Their matt black anodized finish not only looks good, it also protects the hub bodies from corrosion.
Two large bearings support the hub body on a 17 mm axle, two further bearings support the freewheel and the micro-gap end caps keep dirt and water away from the inside of the hub. On the opposite side, the patented freehub mechanism is concealed inside. The unique bevel gearing has a contact surface that is approx. 400 % larger than that of conventional spur gears and therefore enables maximum power transmission with minimum wear. Together with the hard anodized surface, the special, very elaborately manufactured back of the tooth ensures low abrasion and thus additionally increases the service life. The 45-fold toothing results in a maximum free travel of 8°. This means you have immediate propulsion when you need it in difficult passages, for example, and don't lose any valuable time when sprinting to the finish.
The pair of hubs weighs in at just 211 grams, putting them on a par with the lightest hubs on the market. Despite their extremely low weight, the hubs are approved for a system weight of up to 120 kg in road bike use.
Rims
Perfectly finished, light and yet sufficiently stiff are the most important specifications of the R2BIKE rims. Depending on the rim height, you can conquer summits or set a good pace on the flat. And they have not skimped on safety either, as they are approved for a system weight of 90 kg.
How did the developers achieve this? First and foremost, of course, the choice of material plays an important role. Not all carbon is the same. The decision was made to use the high-quality T800 fibers from Toray Industries, one of the world's leading suppliers of this material. These have incredible strength, are very stiff and yet are among the lightest on the market. However, high-end material alone does not make a high-quality product. It also depends on the manufacturing process, which is where the rims score points. Their sandwich construction combines different carbon layers. This enables specific, punctual reinforcements and therefore greater overall stability of the rim without increasing the weight.In addition, a carbon strip was used in the spoke hole area to prevent the nipples from tearing out and to allow higher spoke tension.
The unique, flawless look in an elegant matt finish is also achieved using a special resin. This allows the carbon layers to harden perfectly, prevents bubbles from forming and ensures a resistant surface. This means that even stone chips cannot harm it.
The rim flank has a classic hook for secure tire guidance. This prevents the tire from bouncing even at high air pressures and you always have your bike under control. Of course, the rims can also be ridden tubeless.
They also have an asymmetrical profile, which allows a more even spoke angle. This optimization has a number of advantages. The tension on both sides can be better aligned, which is beneficial to the durability of the spokes and the wheel as a whole. The normally direction-dependent lateral stiffness is also adjusted, making the wheel more stable in itself.
Wheel construction at R2-Bike

During the entire assembly process, great importance is attached to ensuring that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. This special care allows us to give the first owner a lifetime guarantee against spoke breakage, as long as it was not caused by force.
