Hubs
DT Swiss hubs stand for simple construction and maximum reliability. Thanks to the use of elaborate seals and bearing sizes adapted to the loads, the hubs do not require adjustment of the bearing play. This means that the rider does not have to worry about the function of the hubs for years! Should a service be necessary after tens of thousands of kilometers, the hubs can be disassembled and serviced within a few minutes without special tools thanks to the DT Swiss plug-in system.
Thanks to their simple but well thought-out design, the current 350 hubs have become significantly lighter compared to the previous versions. The proven ratchet freehub system of the DT-Swiss 240 hubs makes the hubs an extremely reliable companion. Compared to pawl systems, the ratchet freehub offers a more even power transmission, which significantly reduces wear. With 36 teeth, the hub reacts very directly to acceleration. The new shape of the end caps makes disassembly even easier, making it even easier to convert to other axle standards.
Rims
Perfectly finished, light and yet sufficiently stiff are the most important specifications of the R2BIKE rims. Depending on the rim height, you can conquer summits or make good speed on the flat. And they have not skimped on safety either, as they are approved for a system weight of 90 kg.
How did the developers achieve this? First and foremost, of course, the choice of material plays an important role. Not all carbon is the same. The decision was made to use high-quality T800 fibers from Toray Industries, one of the world's leading suppliers of this material. These have incredible strength, are very stiff and yet are among the lightest on the market. However, high-end material alone does not make a high-quality product. It also depends on the manufacturing process, which is where the rims score points. Their sandwich construction combines different carbon layers. This enables specific, punctual reinforcements and therefore greater overall stability of the rim without increasing the weight.In addition, a carbon strip was used in the spoke hole area to prevent the nipples from tearing out and to allow higher spoke tension.
The unique, flawless look in an elegant matt finish is also achieved using a special resin. This allows the carbon layers to harden perfectly, prevents bubbles from forming and ensures a resistant surface. This means that even stone chips cannot harm it.
The rim flank has a classic hook for secure tire guidance. This prevents the tire from bouncing even at high air pressures and you always have your bike under control. Of course, the rims can also be ridden tubeless.
They also have an asymmetrical profile, which allows a more even spoke angle. This optimization has a number of advantages. The tension on both sides can be better aligned, which is beneficial to the durability of the spokes and the wheel as a whole. The normally direction-dependent lateral stiffness is also adjusted, making the wheel more stable in itself.
Wheel construction at R2-Bike

During the entire assembly process, great importance is attached to ensuring that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. This special care allows us to give the first owner a lifetime guarantee against spoke breakage, as long as it is not caused by force.
