Hubs
Lighter, stiffer, more precise and easier to maintain - these are the strengths of the new DT Swiss 240 hubs. These properties have been achieved thanks to Ratchet EXP technology. This not only means that the hubs have fewer components and therefore lower weight and less wear, it also allows the bearing on the drive side to be positioned much further out. The greater distance between the bearings results in greater hub rigidity, lower bearing loads and therefore greater durability. The stiffness on the hub body serves to distribute the load more evenly on the spokes. Drive and braking forces are transmitted even better from both spoke flanges to all spokes. One-sided load peaks are prevented, which protects the hub, spokes and rim. The super reliable toothed pulley freehub system with its large contact surface and 36 engagement points ensures extremely direct and reliable power transmission.
Rims
With their extravagant design, the Light-Bicycle Falcon Pro Turbo rims are not just a visual highlight. With their modern rim profile, they are also state of the art in technical terms and can play to their strengths on a wide range of wheel types. With an inner width of 25 millimetres and an outer width of 34.5 millimetres, they not only integrate 28 to 32 millimetre wide road bike tires perfectly into the rim profile in terms of aerodynamics, they also provide excellent support for all-road and gravel tires up to a width of 50 millimetres at low air pressures. In addition to the rim height, the tapered turbo rim profile helps to reduce drag and improve crosswind stability at the same time. The shape also improves the stiffness of the rims, which is reflected in a more direct power transmission in the assembled wheel. The tubeless inner profile with rim hooks ensures a secure tire fit on the rims.
Despite the elaborate rim design, the weight of the rims is very low thanks to a complex manufacturing process.
Thanks to this special BlackTek manufacturing process, the Falcon Pro rims come out of the autoclave as a finished product and require no post-processing. This not only makes the manufacturing process more environmentally friendly than conventional methods, the rim surface is also significantly harder and therefore more resistant to mechanical stresses during driving.
Extra-thin and lightweight carbon prepregs are used in the production of Falcon Pro rims. This makes it possible to stack more carbon layers in critical areas to achieve greater stability without weight disadvantages and to keep the overall weight of the rims extremely low.
Wheel construction at R2-Bike
Our wheels are assembled entirely by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire assembly process, great importance is attached to ensuring that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. This special care allows us to give the first owner a lifetime guarantee against spoke breakage, as long as it is not caused by force.
