Hubs
When the engineers at Chris King started to develop the R45, everything was created under the motto "light & fast". Every detail was fine-tuned and the result is something to be proud of. Not only is it lighter than its predecessor, it is also considerably stiffer thanks to the 17 mm axle. As a result, it twists less and transmits steering commands very precisely. But one thing has remained the same: the soul of Chris King.
Thanks to the enlarged hub flange, shorter spokes can be used in wheel construction, which not only saves weight but also makes for a very stable and durable wheel.
At the heart of the hub are the ball bearings. These are also developed and produced directly at Chris King. This means they can be fully adapted to the specific loads and forces. The multiple seals virtually prevent water or dirt from penetrating. Adjusting the bearing play is very simple and can also be carried out when the wheel is installed.
The unmistakable sound of the freewheel is the trademark of the rear wheel hubs. It is generated by the 45 grid points of the stainless steel toothed pulley. Thanks to this 3-part ring drive system, every pedal stroke is immediately converted into propulsion without much idle travel.
Rims
DT Swiss has the right rims for off-road riding. These extremely stable rims with a large rim width and high permitted system weight are made for tough off-road use, whether gravel or bikepacking over hill and dale. They won't let you down. You have the option of riding very wide tires. They are also tubeless-compatible and therefore reduce the risk of punctures.
Wheel construction at R2-Bike
Our wheels are assembled entirely by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire assembly process, great importance is attached to ensuring that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. This special care allows us to offer a lifetime guarantee against spoke breakage as long as it is not caused by force.

You will receive a universal wheel bag for all common sizes.
You will receive a replacement spoke with nipple in all required spoke lengths so that you can repair the wheel quickly after an accident.
You will receive a free initial inspection of the wheel, where the resulting work is completely free of charge. Only shipping costs are incurred.
You get a crash replacement promise: If your wheel is damaged due to force majeure, we will rebuild it once. We grant a 100% discount on all labor costs and only charge for the material.
