Behind the young company One-K are 3 bicycle enthusiasts and inventors who have pooled their expertise and passion to develop the lightest bicycle spokes in the world. The One-K founders developed the revolutionary approach and production process at the Leibniz Institute for Composite Materials at the RPTU in Kaiserslautern. One-K now produces in its own halls in Freinsheim in the Palatinate, demonstrating that innovative high-end wheels can also be produced economically in Germany.
With a weight saving of up to 60 percent compared to premium steel spokes, without having to compromise on performance durability, One-K fiber spokes allow disc brake wheels to be built weighing less than 1000 grams. Thanks to the modular design and a crash replacement guarantee, you are also on the safe side in the event of damage.
The NXT AERA wheels set new standards in terms of performance thanks to their uncompromising aerodynamics and precisely coordinated system integration. The basis for this is the new ONE-K NXT Fiberspoke system with integrated spoke nipples in conjunction with specially developed ONE-K carbon rims. In contrast to the previous version, the spoke nipples are concealed inside the rim to optimize flow, while the geometry of the rims is precisely matched to the NXT spoke system. The system is designed for low weight, maximum efficiency and direct and controlled handling under high loads.
NXT-Fiberspokes spoke spokes
One-K's patented manufacturing process allows multiple connected spokes to be produced from a single continuous fiber tape. At the end of each spoke, the tape is formed into small loops, which are used to connect the spokes to the rim with special nipples. In addition to saving weight, the seamless fiber tape of the spoke stars eliminates the need for sensitive, open spoke ends. The spokes are made of fibers with extremely high tensile strength and stiffness. They are embedded in an epoxy matrix to provide the necessary resistance to impacts and cuts. Each spoke star consists of 6 connected spokes. In addition to the high durability, the closed spoke stars enable the best possible power transmission from the hub to the rim.
Construction
Each wheel consists of 4 spoke spokes (2 per wheel side), which are rotated 180° to each other. The connection to the rim is made via nipples and nuts, which are positioned in the spoke hole. The outer shape of the nipples is based on classic designs and ensures that the spoke is held securely during centering and does not twist. The wheel is tightened and centered from the rim side using nuts that are screwed onto the nipples. The spherical head of the nut enables optimum alignment of the spoke between the rim and hub. The contact surface corresponds to that of a conventional spoke nipple. This means that no special holes or other adjustments to the rim are required to use our spoke system.
NONPLUS hubs
The spoke stars are attached to small pins on the specially adapted Nonplus hubs. The spokes support each other and are additionally secured by a collar on the spigots. The large hub flange diameters ensure optimum power transmission during acceleration. Weighing just 223 grams, the hub set is one of the lightest on the market. The CeramicSpeed Coated ball bearings ensure the lowest possible frictional resistance in combination with maximum durability. The toothed disc freehub with 45 engagement points per wheel revolution ensures a very direct power connection.
ONE-K Aera rims
The rims developed by ONE-K have a hooked rim profile with an inner width of 23 millimetres. 50 millimetre high aero profiles are designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency. In combination with the slim Fiberspoke blade spokes, the wheels not only offer excellent climbing characteristics, but also impress on flat routes.
