The Maxxis Rekon is a very voluminous tire that you can use for daily touring, shredding in the forest and on all-mountain trails, but can also cope with detours into rougher terrain.
The TR version with EXO sidewall protection is designed for riding without a tube with sealant, but like all TR tires can also be ridden with a tube. We recommend the Rekon primarily on the rear wheel, which is best combined with a 2.60 Forekaster at the front, but can also be used with coarser treads.

Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealing milk than other "tubeless ready" tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, just like a real UST tubeless tire. This means that tubeless mounting is successful on all rims with standard dimensions right from the first inflation and with little liquid. Like tires from other manufacturers, "normal" MAXXIS MTB tires can also be mounted tubeless with sealant, as the carcass fabric is very tight. However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless mounting and guaranteed by MAXXIS. Tubeless mounting of other models is at your own risk.

Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months, depending on the amount used.

3C MaxxTerra
The right 3C compound for enduro and freeride tires. This compound is characterized by smooth uphill performance and excellent downhill grip as well as a long service life.

EXO Protection
This extremely cut- and abrasion-resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB tires. It is very densely woven, lightweight and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tires remains convincingly good.
