MAXXIS Tire Aspen Team Spec 29 x 2,40 WT MaxxSpeed TR EXO ONE70
The Aspen Team Spec uses the same tread pattern as the standard model, but is lighter, faster and more elastic thanks to the 170 TPI carcass. The side of the tire features special lettering with the Team Spec logo. The tire is based on the Aspen model, but has been specially optimized for racing use. The Aspen, an XC tire with low weight and fast rolling characteristics, has not only won numerous World Cup victories, but has also been used successfully at the Olympic Games. Until recently, this new tire was reserved exclusively for professional teams equipped with Maxxis tires. Its large volume ensures excellent rollover characteristics, while the aggressive side lugs provide the necessary grip in corners.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special casing construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and have too angular a shape on wide rims, resulting in less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 30 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension between 25 and 30 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other tubeless ready tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, just like a real UST tubeless tire. This means that tubeless mounting is successful on all rims with standard dimensions from the very first inflation and with little liquid.
Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months, depending on the amount used.
EXO Protection
This extremely cut- and abrasion-resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB tires. It is very densely woven, lightweight and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tires remains convincingly good.
MaxxSpeed
The brand new MaxxSpeed compound is undoubtedly one of the most advanced compounds for XC racing. This high-performance silica compound significantly reduces rolling resistance while improving grip on wet surfaces. Compared to the 3C MaxxSpeed, the laboratory test shows a remarkable reduction in rolling resistance of around 25 % (with unchanged tread, tire structure and air pressure). During a 90-minute race, this could theoretically mean a time saving of up to one minute.
ONE70 (170TPI)
The number of nylon threads on one inch (=2.54cm) of tire fabric. Low numbers mean stable, heavy fabric. The higher the TPI number, the better the tire adapts to the surface and therefore has a more comfortable ride. The weight is also reduced. Maxxis always specifies the number of threads = TPI in one carcass ply - some other tire manufacturers add the threads of all (3 to 6) carcass plies plus the puncture protection plies.
