LEAP COMPONENTS handlebar mount for SRAM AXS Wireless Blips shift knobs | Aero Grip Shifter for SRAM S900 brake levers | 1 pair
It is fascinating to see how highly specialized and innovative products are constantly being developed in cycling in order to provide exceptional talents like Wout van Aert and Jonas Vingegaard with the best possible equipment. It has long been known that many small optimizations add up to a decisive competitive advantage. The most successful cycling team in the Netherlands, Team Visma Lease a Bike, also follows this premise and works together with its official supplier Leap Components on highly developed solutions with the clear aim of staying one step ahead in the next race. The Grand Tours of recent years in particular have impressively demonstrated how decisive a strong time trial can be for a podium finish in the overall classification. Consequently, the focus in the development of new concepts was on the time trial machines of the pros - an approach that resulted in the Leap S900 Aero Grip Shifter. These were developed together with the Visma Lease a Bike team, tested in the wind tunnel and have already been used successfully at the Tour de France and the Olympic Games, where they contributed to podium finishes (2nd place at the Tour de France, 2nd and 3rd place at the Olympic Games). The wind tunnel tests showed an aerodynamic advantage of 1-2 watts compared to the conventional solution with wireless blips attached to the side of the brake lever.
The Leap S900 Aero Grip Shifters are the ultimate upgrade for your time trial setup. The set consists of two grips with integrated shift knob holder, suitable for the hydraulic SRAM S900 Aero brake levers, as well as a Leap tool with integrated torque wrench, which facilitates the installation of the SRAM AXS Wireless Blips. After the conversion, you benefit from the large grip surface with non-slip patterning and the perfectly aerodynamically integrated shifting mechanism.
The Aero Grip Shifters were tested on the standard time trial handlebars of the following current models:
22.7 mm - Scott Plasma 6
23.7 mm - Cannondale SuperSlice
24.0 mm - Cervélo P5, Trek Speed Concept, Giant Trinity, BMC Speedmachine, Orbea Ordu, Van Rysel XCR
24.5 mm - Factor Hanzo
25.0 mm - S-Works Shiv
We recommend that you measure the diameter of your handlebars yourself before buying to ensure a perfect fit. With time trial handlebars in particular, the diameter can deviate from the usual reference dimensions from handlebar to handlebar, even with the same model.
The popular 3D printing process fused deposition modeling is used to manufacture the brackets. With an exceptionally high resolution, a 0.4 millimeter nozzle prints the molten thermoplastic filament onto a platform in extremely thin layers of just 0.08 millimeters. The individual strands of plastic harden in the air and bond with the existing layer underneath. This process is repeated until the desired shape of the workpiece is completely printed. The result is so fine that it only becomes apparent at second glance that it is a 3D-printed component.
