With the Varia RTL516 radar you are definitely safer on the road. On the one hand, the bright rear light increases your visibility in the dark, but also during the day. The highlight, however, is the built-in radar system, which warns you of vehicles approaching you from behind.
It would be nice if you also had eyes at the back of your head. The Varia RTL516 replaces these and acts as an early warning system for you. It monitors the area behind your back and detects vehicles from a distance of 140 m. The information is then displayed on your GPS. The information can then be displayed graphically and acoustically on your Garmin Edge bike computer or smartphone. It even differentiates between the speed at which a car is approaching and how far away it is from you in color. If the light is red, watch out.
Of course, even with this ingenious aid, you should not switch off your mind and continue to be alert on the road.
Thanks to various rubber inserts, the basic holder can be fitted to practically any seat post, including oval ones. The slim design prevents your legs from touching it when pedaling and does not interfere with the aerodynamics of your bike.
The light can be switched on and off manually so that you can also use it during the day.
