GARBARUK chainring Melon Direct Mount oval | 1-speed narrow-wide e*thirteen BOOST crank | black
Garbaruk is a company from the Ukraine that has its roots in motorsport. The design and manufacture of tuning parts for engines and chassis was one of Garbaruk's hobbyhorses. Today, the cycling-enthusiastic Garbaruk brothers incorporate the experience and knowledge they have gained into the production of high-end bicycle parts. Since 2019, the company has been based in Krakow, Poland. What remains unchanged: From design and production to surface finishing - all steps take place under one roof.
7075-T6 aluminum from Germany is the raw material for Garbaruk's elaborately CNC-milled components. The chainrings have a number of features that set them apart from the competition.
VCLT (Variable ChainLine Technology)
Garbaruk works with a changing chainline on all direct mount chainrings. This depends on the number of teeth. The chainline is thus optimized so that the chainring is aligned almost centrally to the cassette according to its size. With other manufacturers, a fixed chainline is common, which must be selected so that even larger chainrings do not touch the chainstay.
narrow-wide teeth
To keep the chain securely in position even without a chain guide, the teeth have a special profile consisting of alternating narrow and wide teeth. The teeth of the Garbaruk chainrings are approx. 40% longer than standard teeth to ensure that this is the case even in very rough and rugged conditions. Furthermore, the teeth are shaped in such a way that the chainring works very well even in muddy conditions. Dirt and mud are effectively removed when the chain runs over.
Melon - oval shape
The ovalization of the chainring increases performance by varying the drivetrain and optimizing resistance. When pedaling with the legs, the natural strengths and weaknesses are harmonized. This results in better use of the stronger muscle groups and compensates for the weaker muscles in the work stroke (shorter stroke).
Direct mount assembly
The chainring is mounted directly on the crank arm and replaces the possible previous spider. The result is a tidy look that saves weight and offers excellent stiffness at the same time.
BOOST Standard
The Boost standard allows the use of wider tires in appropriately designed frames and forks. The wider hubs also give the wheels higher stiffness values, which is particularly important for 27.5" and 29" wheels. However, the increase in width shifts the chainline about 3 mm outwards. The Garbaruk Boost chainrings in conjunction with the in-house VCLT Technology optimally compensate for this.
