The KFX i28 were developed to give you full control in the toughest cross-country and marathon races. Even before their official launch, FSA's high-end carbon wheels have proven their potential. Alan Hatherly from the Cannondale Factory Racing Team won the 2024 Cross-Country World Championship on the KFX i28. Input from world-class athletes and their teams also played a major role in the development of the wheels.
The most striking feature of the i28 is the innovative rim design with its raised spoke holes. This design allows the rim weight at the nipple seats to be reduced and the stiffness of the rims to be increased at the same time. The inner rim width of 28 millimetres was determined in field and laboratory tests to be the optimum balance between handling on the trail and low weight for the best acceleration.With the low, varying rim height of 22-24 millimeters, the rims remain flexible enough to absorb hard hits in rock gardens and increase rolling efficiency in extremely rough sections. The hookless design and wide rim flanges ensure high resistance in the event of punctures.
At the center of the wheels are the newly developed hubs with PRS freehub technology, whose toothed disc freehub with 72 engagement points per wheel rotation ensures virtually instantaneous traction. Specially designed for off-road use, the hubs are optimally protected against the ingress of dirt and water.
To ensure the highest possible quality, the i28 hubs, including carbon production, are manufactured at the FSA factory. Convinced of the high quality, FSA has included the i28 in its Lifetime Warranty Program.
