With a weight of 144 grams, the HyperSmart3 R is one of the lightest hubs that money can currently buy. Complex computer simulations, countless prototypes and a long test phase under the toughest conditions guarantee you a long service life despite the low weight.
As usual from Extralite, the hub is perfectly finished. Minimal tolerances and high-quality materials leave no doubt as to the quality and stability of this work of art. The black, hard-anodized hub rotates on two sealed deep groove ball bearings around the multiple butted axle . An O-ring provides additional protection against water and dirt. For a long service life of your bearings, you can use the Micro-Turner to perfectly adjust the bearing play at any time.
In addition to the organic oversized shape, the modern concept of the hub also includes the spoke flanges, which are intended for straight pull spokes. The straight spokes result in a straighter power flow and the elimination of the curved spoke head means there is one less potential weak point in the wheel.

The spur gear has 48 teeth. This results in a maximum idle travel of 7.5° when accelerating.
