ENVE wheelset 28" SES 6.7 | ENVE Innerdrive Premium Straightpull Center Lock hubs
If speed is your top priority, choose the SES 6.7 wheelset and everyone will only see your rear wheel. The high sidewalls practically plow through the wind. Different rim heights on the front and rear wheels offer the best compromise between weight, riding stability and aerodynamics. The developers spent many hours in the laboratory until the final shape of the rims was determined. Together with the noble ENVE Innerdrive Premium hubs and the Sapim spokes, you will have a lot of fun with it.
ENVE SES 6.7 Disc rims
The ENVE SES 6.7 rims are the ultimate basis for a stable wheelset that offers the best aerodynamics. The high flank ensures that the wind is deflected and suppresses braking turbulence. At the same time, the special cross-section prevents lateral gusts from having a negative impact on tracking stability, while the large inner width means that even large-volume tires find a secure hold and you have more comfort and grip.
The ENVE engineers opted for a hookless design, which enables perfect tubeless compatibility. This guarantees a permanent seal. In addition, the rim flange has been reinforced, which provides more stability at this critical point and makes it more resistant to damage from punctures. It also makes mounting and demounting the tire much easier. Despite the high sidewall, the weight is surprisingly low. In contrast to the previous model, this is achieved by a modified lamination.
ENVE Innerdrive Premium hubs
ENVE products have experienced a rapid rise in the world of cycling. They have even been tested in major races such as the Tour de France or the Vuelta in Spain. The carbon specialists from the USA develop only the uncompromisingly best components for professionals and ambitious amateur cyclists. With the Innerdrive hubs, ENVE sets a new benchmark for bicycle drive mechanisms. Durability, low maintenance and maximum performance were the main focus during development. The UAE Team Emirates has already put the hubs to the test under real-life conditions on tens of thousands of kilometers of the World Tour.
The change from J-bend spokes to straight-pull spokes immediately catches the eye with the newly designed hub shell. In contrast to conventional hubs, where the spokes are bent at a 90-degree angle, the spokes on straight-pull hubs run straight. As the spokes are not bent, they are generally stiffer, which increases the stiffness of the entire wheel and improves power transmission. Straightpull hubs are also significantly lighter, as they require less material to offer the same stability. The hub shell creates space between the spokes and ensures that there is no more spoke creaking. To simplify wheel construction and maintenance, the same spoke length is used on both the drive and non-drive side.
However, the real magic happens on the inside. ENVE relies on the toothed disk system for the freewheel mechanism. Instead of pawls that engage with a sprocket, the system consists of two toothed disks that slide over each other. When pedaling, the teeth of the two discs engage with each other and transfer the power to the rear wheel. An oversized ratchet diameter of 42 millimetres promises less stress on the individual teeth and improved torque transmission to the axle.
Sapim CX-Ray spokes
With the CX-Ray, Sapim has succeeded in developing an exceptional spoke. In addition to its low weight, it has an exceptional load capacity and flexibility. This also results in a wide range of applications. Whether road cyclists or mountain bikers, everyone benefits from these positive characteristics. In addition, the flattened middle section ensures excellent aerodynamics. The high material quality enables the construction of stable wheels and guarantees a long service life.
ENVE products are developed in the USA and manufactured to the highest quality standards at the company's headquarters in Utah. The developers have years of experience with the use of carbon in the field of cycling and know what requirements a top product such as these carbon rims must meet. At ENVE, every effort is made to utilize the advantages of carbon and eliminate its disadvantages. Stiff and extremely light rims have been developed in which all fibers can run without interruption, which corresponds to the best possible utilization of the material thicknesses. This principle has been perfected in the spoke holes, where continuous fiber strands form the receptacle for the spoke nipples. Aluminum inserts, which are common in other carbon rims, can therefore be dispensed with during production. This reduces the weight and at the same time allows significantly higher spoke tensions, which in turn allow the construction of stiffer wheels.
All wheels come with an ENVE factory warranty of 5 years and lifetime ENVE Incidental Damage Protection. We recommend registering the product within 60 days of purchase to be eligible for warranty and accidental damage protection program. Register here.
Note: The ENVE SES 6.7 are only compatible with tubeless and tubeless-ready tires that are also approved for hookless rim profiles. You can find a selection of tire models tested and recommended by ENVE here. If a tire you want to use is not listed, this does not mean that it is incompatible. Rather, it has not yet been tested by ENVE.
