When gravel speed becomes a racing decision, every detail counts. The ENVE G SES 4.5 was developed precisely for this new generation of gravel racing: high average speeds, wide tires, constantly changing track conditions and the need to be as efficient as possible over long distances.
Instead of just being robust, this wheelset brings real aero performance to demanding terrain. The rim shape follows the SES philosophy of the successful ENVE road bike wheels and is specially designed for modern gravel tires. 30 mm inner width, 49 mm rim height at the front and 55 mm at the rear create a balanced combination of speed, control and low weight.
The G SES 4.5 is particularly strong where a course demands everything: fast gravel passages, short climbs, technical sections and long speed straights. Aerodynamically designed and gravel-specific, the rim is optimized for tire widths from 44 to 52 mm and thus offers plenty of volume for traction, comfort and safety on rough surfaces.
The ENVE Innerdrive Premium hubs provide additional efficiency. With a torsion-resistant hub shell, durable bearings and a precise 60-tooth ratchet system, the wheelset is designed for reliable performance. The result is a gravel wheelset for riders who not only want to get there, but also want to make up time on every kilometer.
ENVE G SES 4.5 rims
Since ENVE's first gravel-specific wheel line in 2018, the rules of the game in gravel racing have changed. Compliance, durability and high protection against punctures remain important fundamentals, but aerodynamics are now a decisive factor in performance-oriented racing. Developed from ENVE's experience of winning the Gravel World Championships and the UCI World Gravel Series, the G SES 4.5 rim combines robust gravel characteristics with efficiency designed for speed.
With an inner width of 30 mm, the rim is specifically designed for modern tire widths between 44 and 52 mm. This creates a harmonious transition between tire and rim, which optimizes the air flow and at the same time supports traction, comfort and safety on demanding surfaces. Control remains a key issue even on hard impacts. The Wide Hookless Bead construction uses a wide, blunt rim edge to distribute impact forces over a larger area and reduce the risk of punctures.
Different rim heights at the front and rear are part of the SES principle: 49 mm at the front, 55 mm at the rear. While the lower front rim calms handling in crosswinds and improves control in technical terrain, the higher rear rim supports more efficient power transmission and unlocks additional aero advantages at high speeds. This results in a distinct performance character with low energy loss and high riding dynamics in uncompromising racing use.
ENVE Innerdrive Premium hubs
With the Innerdrive hubs, ENVE sets a new benchmark for modern hub technology. Durability, low maintenance and maximum performance were the main focus during development. Under real racing conditions, the hubs have already proven their performance over tens of thousands of kilometers in WorldTour use.
The change from J-bend spokes to straight-pull spokes immediately catches the eye in the newly designed hub shell. In contrast to conventional hubs, where the spokes are bent at a 90-degree angle, the spokes on straight-pull hubs run straight. As the spokes are not bent, they are generally stiffer, which increases the stiffness of the entire wheel and improves power transmission. In addition, straight pull hubs are often lighter as they require less material to achieve the same stability. The hub shell creates space between the spokes and ensures that there is no more spoke creaking. To simplify wheel construction and maintenance, the same spoke length is used on both the drive side and the non-drive side.
However, the real magic happens on the inside. ENVE relies on a toothed disk system for the freewheel mechanism. Instead of pawls that engage with a sprocket, the system consists of two toothed disks that slide against each other. When pedaling, the teeth of the two discs engage with each other and transfer the power to the rear wheel. An oversized ratchet diameter of 42 millimetres promises less stress on the individual teeth and improved torque transmission to the axle.

Like all ENVE carbon rims, the G SES 4.5 is made in the USA, where it is laminated, cured and finished by hand. Individual components such as spokes and parts of the hubs are manufactured in Europe. In Ogden, Utah, the wheels are assembled by hand with the utmost precision.
