ENVE Wheelset 28" Foundation AR40
The ENVE Foundation AR40 is a modern all-road carbon wheelset that combines aerodynamic efficiency, high stability and broad tire compatibility in a versatile overall package. Developed for riders who don't want to commit to a single discipline, the AR40 feels just as at home on fast asphalt passages as it does on rough back roads or dusty gravel sectors. ENVE brings numerous technologies from the renowned SES series to the Foundation line, which is much more accessible in terms of price, and makes the brand's characteristic high-end performance available to a much larger target group.
With a rim height of 40 millimetres, the AR40 is positioned precisely in the area where aerodynamics and driving stability harmonize perfectly. The shape of the rim was developed specifically for real riding conditions, so that the wheelset offers remarkably efficient aerodynamics even with wider tires. Especially in modern all-road setups with 27 to 33 millimeter wide tires, the AR40 unfolds its full potential and allows you a fast, stable and comfortable ride - whether on fast-paced training laps, demanding Gran Fondos or spontaneous gravel detours.
A decisive factor for this versatility is the modern rim geometry. With a generous inner width of 25 millimetres and an outer width of around 32 millimetres, the AR40 offers a stable and aerodynamically optimized platform for wide tubeless tires. As a result, tires benefit from better support when cornering, a larger air volume and an overall smoother ride. At the same time, the wheelset remains flexible enough to accommodate significantly wider tires up to around 50 millimetres.
In terms of rim design, ENVE consistently relies on a hookless construction with a wide contact surface. This so-called wide hookless bead improves tubeless compatibility and ensures particularly even tire contact. In practice, this means lower tire pressures, more comfort on long distances and additional traction on loose surfaces. At the same time, the design reduces the risk of punctures and increases the system's resistance to hard impacts.
The elaborate carbon production of the rims is also typical of ENVE. Instead of drilling the spoke holes afterwards, they are integrated directly into the structure of the rim during the lamination process. In this way, the carbon fibers remain uninterrupted and can optimally develop their structural strength. The result is a particularly durable, stiff and resilient rim that retains its performance even under intensive use.
At the center of the wheelset are the ENVE Innerdrive Foundation hubs, which were specially developed for the Foundation series. Their 60-tooth ratchet system ensures fast engagement with just 6° of free travel and enables direct, efficient power transmission. Whether you're accelerating out of tight corners or applying immediate pressure to the pedals on a steep climb, the hubs respond immediately and reliably. Thanks to the Centerlock mount for disc brakes and various freehub options, the AR40 can be easily combined with standard drive systems.

Note: The ENVE Foundation AR40 are only compatible with tubeless and tubeless-ready tires that are also approved for hookless rim profiles. The wheelset is supplied with pre-mounted tubeless tape.
