DUKE Rim 29" Lucky Jack SLS5 285g UD-Carbon | 31 mm
With the Lucky Jack SLS5, the Duke becomes a king. The French have once again succeeded in significantly improving their cross country rim compared to the previous version. A 31 mm wide rim with a weight of approx. 285 g (manufacturer's specification) is more than a direct challenge to the competition.
But how did they manage it this time? The use of the highest quality carbon fibers was a matter of course from the outset. Clever use of materials means that only as much is used as is really needed. In contrast to the Ultra version, particularly vulnerable areas, such as the rim flange or base, were reinforced. No compromises were made in the choice of resin either. This has proven itself in aerospace technology, reduces weight and at the same time increases impact resistance. As a result, there is no need for reworking or painting after production. A new feature of the SLS5 production process is the integrated DRC (Dynamic Response Comfort) technology, which guarantees controlled deformation of the rim off-road and allows the stored energy to be used for explosive acceleration out of corners. It also improves control of your bike and significantly increases comfort.
Despite all the optimization, durability must not fall by the wayside. Duke presses so-called ImpactGuard's, highly elastic energy-absorbing inserts, into the cavities on both sides of the rim, which can absorb mechanical impacts and thus contribute significantly to stability.
The new shape, with the small hump on the inside of the rim, also absorbs high load peaks better without increasing the weight. In addition, the preformed spoke holes, the spoke cores, ensure a continuous structure of the carbon fibers. This means that subsequent drilling of these is not necessary.
The rims of the SLS5 series also have an asymmetrical rim profile, which enables a more even spoke angle. This optimization of the spoke angle has a number of advantages. The tension on both sides can be better aligned, which is beneficial to the durability of the spokes and the wheel as a whole. The normally direction-dependent lateral stiffness is also equalized, making the wheel more stable.
Duke recommends installing this rim on the rear wheel. If you are a very aggressive rider, you should also choose them for the front.
3-year warranty and lifetime crash replacement on UD carbon rims
Duke selects the materials used very carefully in order to offer you the best possible product. Therefore, the quality standards for all products, subcontractors and partners are very strict. Duke guarantees for a period of three years that the rims offered have no hidden defects. However, improper installation or use of the products will invalidate the warranty.
In the event of accidents or heavy falls, violent impacts can damage the rim and make it impossible to use. Duke therefore offers a lifetime crash replacement for its UD carbon rims. In exchange, you will receive a 50% discount on the rim you have purchased.
