DUKE Rim 29" Fury Jack SLS5 6Ters UD Carbon | 31 mm rear wheel
With the Fury Jack SLS5, the Duke becomes a king. The French have once again succeeded in significantly improving their all-mountain rim compared to the previous version. A 32.5 mm wide enduro rim with a weight of approx. 460 g (manufacturer's specification) is more than a direct challenge to the competition.
But how did they manage it this time? The use of the highest quality carbon fibers was a matter of course from the outset. Clever use of materials means that only as much is used as is really needed. No compromises were made in the choice of resin either. This has proven itself in aerospace technology, reduces weight and at the same time increases impact resistance. This means that there is no need for reworking or painting after production. Much more attention has also been paid to the comfort aspect. For example, lateral flexibility has been improved so that minor vibrations are not passed on to the rider, thus relieving the strain on hands and arms.
Nevertheless, despite all the optimization, durability must not fall by the wayside. Duke presses so-called ImpactGuard's, highly elastic energy-absorbing inserts, into the cavities on both sides of the rim, which can absorb mechanical impacts and thus contribute significantly to stability. In addition, the rim flange has a very solid design so that the force of punctures can be distributed over a larger area and the risk of damage is reduced.
The new shape, with the small bump on the inside of the rim, also digests high load peaks better without increasing the weight. The preformed spoke holes, the spoke cores, also ensure a continuous structure of the carbon fibers. This means that subsequent drilling of these holes is not necessary.
The rims of the SLS5 series also have an asymmetrical rim profile, which enables a more even spoke angle. This optimization of the spoke angle has a number of advantages. The tension on both sides can be better aligned, which is beneficial to the durability of the spokes and the wheel as a whole. The normally direction-dependent lateral stiffness is also adjusted, making the wheel more stable.
The Fury Jack SLS5 also follows Duke's own "6Ters" concept. The cross-section of the rims on the front and rear wheels is different, with the larger inner width at the front providing more grip and stiffness, while at the rear the focus is on impact resistance and comfort.
Duke recommends fitting this rim on the rear wheel.
3-year warranty and lifetime crash replacement on UD carbon rims
Duke selects the materials used very carefully in order to offer you the best possible product. Therefore, the quality standards for all products, subcontractors and partners are very strict. Duke guarantees that the rims offered have no hidden defects for a period of three years. However, improper installation or use of the products will invalidate the warranty.
In the event of accidents or heavy falls, violent impacts can damage the rim and make it impossible to use. Duke therefore offers a lifetime crash replacement for its UD carbon rims. In exchange, you will receive a 50% discount on the rim you have purchased.
