Since the company was founded, it has been the mission of DT-Swiss to equip bikers with wheels that are perfectly adapted to their respective purpose. The booming eMTB segment in particular is developing rapidly these days and the requirements for eMTB wheels are just as wide as the possible uses of modern e-bikes. The Hybrid LS (Light Support) wheels are perfectly designed for use on light eMTBs. They offer ambitious riders agile wheels with direct handling and enough reserves for the toughest trails. Due to the lower system weight of light eMTBs, the weight of the Hybrid LS wheels could also be reduced. The HX 1700 LS models form the middle class among the DT-Swiss hybrid wheels and are equipped with specially developed hubs and high-quality, welded aluminum rims.
DT Swiss 350 hybrid hubs
In order to be prepared for the higher loads in eMTB use, the current 350 hub generation has been specially adapted. The newly designed, enlarged hub body has improved durability and can better absorb the higher drive and braking torques. The proven DT Swiss Ratchet freewheel system has also been adapted to the higher loads. Hardened steel sprockets and 24x gearing per wheel revolution offer the optimal combination of durability and responsiveness for this type of freewheel.
Robust rims
The welded aluminum rims, with their large inner width of 30 millimeter wide tires, offer very good support at low air pressures. For use on the Light eMTB, the weight of the rims has been reduced compared to the standard HX eMTB variant. This gives you more agile handling on the trail. For a maximum system weight of 130 kg, the rims offer enough safety reserves to let it run properly. The rim profile has of course been designed for tubeless use. The matching tubeless tape and tubeless valve are already included in the scope of delivery.
DT Swiss Hybrid 4 spokes
With a diameter of 1.8 millimeters, the Hybrid 4 spokes are thicker than conventional MTB spokes and can absorb the higher braking torques better. In this way, they ensure permanent lateral and torsional rigidity of the wheels. Compared to the DT-Swiss Hybrid 1 spokes, the diameter of the spoke heads has been reduced to 2.15 millimeters. As a result, the total weight of the spokes is only slightly higher than that of standard spokes, without compromising on rigidity and durability when used on light eMTBs.
Pro Lock technology
In the Pro Lock process, a patented two-component adhesive is injected into the nipple thread and enables the construction of extremely durable wheels. As soon as the nipples are screwed in, the adhesive is activated and fully hardens at room temperature after approx. 6 - 7 hours. Repeated re-centering is still possible without any problems, although the adhesive strength decreases slightly with each re-centering.
