According to this motto, DT Swiss has launched the most aerodynamic wheels on the market with the ARC-WTS (Wheel Tire System) series and they are immediately the measure of all things. Especially in combination with the Continental 111 TR Aero tires, the competition is shown the limits and the word air resistance almost loses its meaning. With them you can really pick up speed and easily leave the peloton behind you.
The idea, development and test phase was a successful experiment between DT Swiss, Continental and the aerodynamics experts at Swiss Side. In addition to the goal of being the best and fastest, the close interaction of the various components was also taken to a new level and creative solutions were sought. Thanks to their carefully considered selection and the typically high manufacturing quality, you are guaranteed the best functionality and a long service life.
ARC 55 mm AERO+ carbon rim
Carbon has also become the first choice of rim material at DT Swiss, with the Swiss company implementing a new concept in the production process that makes additional coating unnecessary. Together with the V-shape cross-section, the 55 mm high sidewall ensures very good aerodynamic values without putting unnecessary strain on the scales and shows its advantages both on flat and hilly terrain.Externally, the rim shape was developed according to the DT Swiss AERO+ concept and shows its advantages especially in crosswinds. Angled air currents create a sailing effect, which gives you additional propulsion and allows you to save a lot of energy. The internal nipples also increase the streamlining effect and give the wheel a clean look.
The dreaded negative influences on the steering torque have also been minimized. These have the effect that strong and asymmetrical crosswinds can lead to abrupt changes in flow and sometimes trigger uncontrollable steering movements, which makes precise and smooth riding much more difficult. The AERO+ profile ensures an even distribution of lateral force and you can relax and go at your own pace.
Thanks to the enormous inner width of 22 mm, even large-volume tires are perfectly supported, which prevents them from kinking in fast bends and ensures greater riding stability and better damping capacity. In addition, the rim is of course designed for tubeless systems, allowing you to ride with a lower air pressure, further improving comfort and grip and reducing susceptibility to punctures.

The perfect storm! With the Aero 111 Tubeless tires, Continental, in collaboration with the aerodynamics experts from Swiss Side, has succeeded in optimally guiding the air along the rims. This is made possible by 48 so-called vortex generators, small precision-formed air chambers on the tread of the tire. These generate controlled turbulence, which ensures that the air flow sticks to the rim for longer and only stalls at large lateral flow angles. In practice, this not only results in a more aerodynamically efficient wheel and tire system, but also improves crosswind stability and directional stability when steering. The Aero 111 was developed and aerodynamically optimized in combination with DT-Swiss ARC and ERC aero rims. However, the tires can also demonstrate their advantages on rims from other manufacturers. Because the air on the rear wheel is already too turbulent, the Aero 111 is particularly recommended for use on the front wheel.
The carcass construction and rubber compound were largely adopted from Continental's high-end 5000 S TR racing tire. Thanks to only 2 fabric layers under the tread, the rolling resistance is extremely low and the tire can adapt perfectly to the surface. Thanks to the Vectran Breaker puncture protection layer and the grippy Black Chili tread, the reduced number of layers does not have a negative effect on puncture protection.
DT Swiss 240 Dicut hub
At the center is the proven DT Swiss 240 hub in the elegant Dicut design. Its legendary status is based on its ultimate reliability and its high rigidity ensures direct and precise steering behavior. The patented two-in-one spoke mounts give the hub a slim shape and support the wheel with its good aerodynamic values. It also impresses with its low weight and ensures a long service life and low maintenance thanks to the perfectly sealed bearings.
DT Swiss Aerolite Straightpull spokes with Pro Lock nipples
The DT Aerolite spokes also ensure weight savings and support the good aerodynamics of the wheel thanks to their blade shape. The middle section was flattened using the cold forging process and therefore has a particularly high material strength. The straight design and the elimination of the highly stressed spoke bend also eliminates a potential breakage point and minimizes susceptibility to punctures.
In the Pro Lock process, a patented two-component adhesive is injected into the nipple thread, enabling the construction of extremely durable wheels. As soon as the nipples are screwed in, the adhesive is activated and hardens completely at room temperature after approx. 6 - 7 hours. Repeated re-centering is still possible without any problems, although the adhesive strength decreases slightly each time.
