The Criterium RS is the ultimate performance tire from Challenge. Its extremely supple 350 TPI cotton carcass, the new Smartprime rubber compound and the handcrafted production ensure the lowest rolling resistance, optimum damping properties and excellent grip in all road conditions. The tire is equipped with Challenge's Puncture Protection System (PPS Ganzo) for the necessary puncture protection.

Corespun Cotton Casing
The cotton carcass of the Criterium RS is naturally much more supple than a conventional nylon carcass. This property is supported by the extremely high thread density of 350 TPI.

Smartprime compound
The extremely flexible Smartprime rubber compound of the tread significantly reduces the rolling resistance of the Criterium RS and ensures high grip on dry and wet roads. Smartprime excels particularly at the limits where other materials fail. This is also ensured by the production from natural rubber.

Handmade Tubeless (H-TLR)
In contrast to classic vulcanized tubeless tires, Challenge H-TLR tires are not manufactured as a U-profile, but come completely flat out of the packaging. This shape allows the carcass to adapt more naturally to uneven ground, which reduces rolling resistance. An inner coating from clean tire bead to tire bead ensures excellent tubeless properties and also increases puncture protection.

Puncture Protection System (PPS Ganzo)
Is a lightweight and highly flexible extra layer made of a finely woven multi-component material, which is incorporated between the tread and the carcass. It effectively prevents the risk of punctures from thorns or shards of glass without negatively affecting the tire's outstanding rolling characteristics.

Chafer Protection Strip
This reinforced strip on the tire beads and the lower part of the sidewalls protects the tire from possible damage caused by sharp-edged carbon rims. The layer also ensures a better tire fit.

Zylon bead
The reinforced, non-stretchable Zylon tire beads ensure a significantly higher load-bearing capacity of the tire. Compared to Kevlar side beads, the thermoplastic Zylon material is 1.6 times stronger.

Note: Challenge tires should not be mounted on rims that do not comply with ETRTO and ISO standards. A maximum pressure of 4.5 bar (65 PSI) must not be exceeded on hookless rims.
