BIKEYOKE grips Grippy
Let's be honest: BikeYoke can of course put themselves out there and announce that they have found the Holy Grail of grips.
It's a handle.
OK, it's a bicycle grip.
But that's exactly where there are simply too many very personal preferences and requirements for there to be just ONE handle. Or???
They have at least given some thought to improving things that they didn't like about other grips and which perhaps haven't been implemented as a whole yet.
eccentric design
The grip has a circular cross-section, with the rubber grip being connected off-centre to the inner support sleeve. This results in more rubber on the palm side - where cushioning is needed - and less rubber on the finger side of the grip. The reason is simple: we feel that a thin grip is easier to grip than a thick grip, and the eccentric design increases damping without the diameter having to increase as well.
honeycomb structure
Unfortunately, with some of the grips with a lot of damping that BikeYoke have favored so far, they repeatedly saw the problem that the rubber was too soft, too thick or too finely structured, so that the rubber often rubs off after a few rides or small lamellae tear off especially when the surface structures are too fine. The grips looked pretty battered after just a few rides (at least when things are going downhill properly).
A honeycomb-like structure was ultimately chosen for the pattern on the Grippy. In connection with the selected material, this offers very good damping properties, but is still resistant to twisting and ensures a longer service life.
Recessed support structure
For additional cushioning on the outside of the grip, the inner plastic support sleeve is cut out, which means that the rubber can reach the handlebar diameter at this point and accordingly offers even more comfort for the hand edge area.
Integrated end cap
It is not uncommon for handles to endure ground, tree or other contact, so proper side protection is required. Here, too, it has unfortunately turned out that the end caps of some of the previously favorite grips offer insufficient protection or are simply not available at all when the rubber goes to the outside. A tearing, which then continues in the worst case, is often the result.
The end cap of the Grippy is integrated and is essentially an extension of the internal support structure. The slightly widening diameter towards the end cap gives good feedback about the approaching end of the handle, the end cap itself then offers hard protection against impacts.
