In order to keep the chain securely in position even without a chain guide, the teeth have a special profile consisting of narrow and wide teeth in alternation. The teeth are also shaped in such a way that in muddy conditions the chain ring transports the mud away very well. Dirt and mud are effectively removed when the chain runs over and friction in the drive train is minimized.

The ovalization of the chainring increases performance by varying the drive train and optimizing resistance. When kicking with the legs, the natural strengths and weaknesses are brought into line. In this way, better use of the stronger muscle groups is achieved and a balance is created in the weaker muscles on the way to work (less stroke).
NOTE: The 32 tooth version has threads for the chainring bolts.
