The power measurement with a suitable crank arm or a matching crank arm absorbs the forces on the right side of the crank. The forces which are introduced into the crank are absorbed via strain gauges which are attached to the spider. Using biometric, mathematical functions, the left crank side (if supported) is calculated. Depending on the quality, the power meter supplies very accurate data with which a meaningful training evaluation is possible. Of course, it can also be used as proof for a Strava KOM.
