This wheelset also defies the special loads of an e-bike drive. The indestructible Tune hubs and the excellently processed Newmen rims forgive driving mistakes. The balanced selection of components guarantees you a high level of reliability and a long service life.
Hubs
The Tune hubs are classics among lightweight disc brakes. Originally developed for the MTB sector, they are now among the best options for light road, cyclo-cross and gravel wheels. They can not only be used to build lightweight and durable wheels, thanks to their 17 millimeter axle system they can be used extremely flexibly and can be converted to various axle type with minimal effort. The hub gets its high stability and strength from the manufacture of aerospace aluminum. When freewheeling the rear hub, Tune relies on the tried and tested system with 3 pawls that engage in a titanium ring with 27 teeth. The freewheel body of the Endurance rear hub has also been reinforced in order to be able to better absorb the high leverage forces in e-bike use over the long term. In addition, the ball bearings of the endurance variant are filled with a special solid lubricant, which can also cope with the use of high-pressure cleaners and adverse weather conditions.
rims
These rims deserve the predicate unbreakable. They are the perfect basis for a stable e-bike or all-mountain wheelset.
The resistance to possible damage after punctures is another 40% better than the already very solid SL A.35. Compared to rims of the same weight class, the rim flanges are much more massive and therefore more robust. Of course, they also have a completely edge-free outer contour and flared rim flanks, which give the tire a rounder shape and thus give it even more cornering grip and comfort.
The rim profile with the straight nipple contact surface is specially designed for the use of specially developed washers (MG washer) and ensures very high "spoke pull out" values with very low wall thickness in this area.
Spokes
The Race spoke is the classic from Sapim! It is a round spoke with a butted middle section of 1.8 mm in diameter. This provides more cushioning than non-tapered spokes. It also makes it easier to digest short load peaks. The Race spoke enables very stiff and stable wheels for practically every intended use . The weight including nipple is approx. 6.95 g per piece.
Wheel construction at R2-Bike
Our wheels are completely assembled by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire construction process, it is important that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. The special care allows us to give a lifelong guarantee against broken spokes, as long as this was not caused by force!
