With this wheelset, even racers can really let it go. The indestructible Tune hubs and the excellently processed Newmen rims forgive driving mistakes. The balanced selection of components guarantees you a high level of reliability and a long service life.
Hubs
The Tune hubs are classics among lightweight disc brakes. Originally developed for the MTB sector, they are now among the best options for light road, cyclo-cross and gravel wheels. They can not only be used to build lightweight and durable wheels, thanks to their 17 millimeter axle system they can be used extremely flexibly and can be converted to various axle type with minimal effort. The hub gets its high stability and strength from the manufacture of aerospace aluminum. When freewheeling the rear hub, Tune relies on the tried and tested system with 3 pawls that engage in a titanium ring with 27 teeth.
All Tune hubs are completely produced, milled and assembled in the Black Forest.
rims
Like all Newmen carbon rims, the Advanced rims are made of high-end UD fibers and impress with their first-class mechanical properties and extremely low weight. They are the ideal basis for a tough cross country wheelset.
The hookless construction makes them ideal for tubeless use. The significantly reinforced rim flange withstands possible punctures better and allows driving with little air pressure. In order to avoid weak points and to increase the service life, the spoke holes were drilled in a special process. The large inner width also gives wide tires a reliable hold. Due to the slightly outward-facing flanks, the shape of the tire is rounder, which results in significantly better cornering grip and increased safety.
Wheel construction at R2-Bike
Our wheels are completely assembled by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire construction process, it is important that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. The special care allows us to give a lifelong guarantee against broken spokes, as long as this was not caused by force!
