With this wheelset, even racers can really let it rip. The legendary DT Swiss hubs and the superbly crafted Newmen rims are forgiving of the occasional riding error, while the well-balanced selection of components guarantees high reliability and a long service life.

Hubs
Lighter, stiffer, more precise and easier to maintain - these are the strengths of the DT Swiss 180 hubs. The smooth-running SINC Ceramic ball bearings offer you a further decisive advantage; they ensure minimal rolling resistance. The stiffness of the hub body serves to distribute the load more evenly on the spokes. Drive and braking forces are transmitted even better from both spoke flanges to all spokes. One-sided load peaks are prevented, which protects the hub, spokes and rim. The RATCHET EXP toothed disc freewheel has also been further developed. This highly reliable system ensures direct power transmission without losses.
The main advantages of Straightpull hubs, apart from the modern design, are contactless spokes that do not cause any unpleasant noises and spoke heads that cannot work their way into the spoke flange. However, if desired, the Straightpull hubs can also be cross-spoked.

Rims
The aluminum rims from the Allgäu impress with their low weight and yet high rigidity. They are the perfect basis for high-quality wheelsets. The X.A.25 version uses the tried and tested 6061 aluminum, while the SL version saves a few additional grams thanks to the 6069 alloy. The flared rim flanks make these rims more resistant to dents and external forces and give the tire a rounder shape and therefore more cornering grip. The rim profile with the straight nipple contact surface is specially designed for the use of specially developed washers (MG washers) and ensures very high "Spoke Pull Out" values in this area. In addition, the rim flanges are much more solid and therefore more robust compared to rims in the same weight class.

Wheel construction at R2-Bike

Our wheels are assembled entirely by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire assembly process, great importance is attached to ensuring that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. This special care allows us to offer a lifetime guarantee against spoke breakage as long as it is not caused by force.

By far the most popular spoke in the Sapim range is the indestructible Race. Despite the still low weight, the most stable wheels can be built with it. The elastic middle part easily copes with high peak loads. A real all-rounder with which you can throw yourself into any adventure.

Sapim places the D-Light between the Laser and the Race. It's not quite as light as the former, but it's almost as durable as the stable Race. This makes it interesting even for BMX riders. The DT Swiss Aerolite has been the first choice of many wheel builders for building high-end wheelsets for years. With its middle section flattened to 0.9 millimeters, the Aerolite cuts particularly well through the air and helps you to save some watts at high speeds. In addition, it is the lightest flat spoke in the DT-Swiss range. The spoke is first butted to a thickness of 1.5 mm in a cold forging process and then flattened in a further process. This complex process further increases the strength and gives the Aerolite its high stability and durability. Thanks to these properties, the bladed spoke can be used on racing bikes or mountain bikes and fits into all hubs with standard bores.
