With this wheelset you can really let it rip even in difficult terrain. The indestructible Chris King hubs and the extremely stable Syntace rims forgive driving mistakes. The balanced selection of components guarantees you a high level of reliability and a long service life.
Hubs
There is a certain myth attached to CHRIS KING hubs. They have been on the market almost unchanged for years and yet are not old fashioned. Thanks to the proven technical inner workings, constant further development in detail and unmistakable appearance, they have developed into a true cult object.
Due to the large hub flange of the ISO hubs, shorter spokes can be used when building wheels. This not only saves weight, but also enables a very stable and durable bike.
The unmistakable sound of the freewheel is the hallmark of the rear hubs. Chris King himself called it "Angry Bee Sound", the sound of the angry bee, which is generated by the 72 grid points of the stainless steel toothed disc. With this 3-part RingDrive system, every step is immediately converted into propulsion without a large amount of idle travel.
The heart of the hub are the ball bearings. These are also developed and produced directly by Chris King. This means that they can be fully adapted to the specific loads and forces. The multiple seals mean that water or dirt cannot penetrate.
rims
In the past, narrow rims and heavy tires were the norm. Today, however, wide rims can be combined with new, light types of tires. But really wide, high-quality rims were inevitably still a bit heavier than their narrow brothers, otherwise the durability suffered. Syntace was the first to break this vicious circle in 2011. The original Syntace rim W33 was the first such wide and light aluminum rim on the market. After more than 5 years of experience, they have improved this with an even better aluminum alloy and with a profile that has been further developed in many test bench runs. And still made another 50 g lighter.
Much more crack-resistant spoke anchoring in the rim base thanks to the SmoothFit profile and perfectly angular embedding of the nipples in the rim base ensure a long-lasting construction without increasing the weight with additional washers.
The V-shape profile with the outward-facing and reinforced rim flanges holds the tire reliably on the rim and is extremely stable.
Wheel construction at R2-Bike
Our wheels are completely assembled by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire construction process, it is important that not only the concentricity is correct, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. The special care allows us to give a lifelong guarantee against broken spokes, as long as this was not caused by force!

A universal impeller bag for all common sizes.
A spare spoke + nipple in all spoke lengths required to be able to repair the wheel at short notice even after an accident.
A free initial inspection of the impeller, during which the resulting work is completely free! Only shipping costs are charged.
A crash replacement promise. If your wheel is damaged due to force majeure, we will rebuild your wheel once. We grant a 100% discount on all labor costs and only charge the material!
