The Pro 5 hubs from the English cult manufacturer from Barnoldswick rotate in the center of the wheelset. The experience of 30 years of designing and manufacturing high-quality drive elements flowed into their development with the aim of improving proven technology in order to meet the demands of current and future bicycle technology.
The design of the rear wheel hub differs significantly from the previous model. Their enlarged body generates more rigidity without increasing the weight. This is particularly noticeable in a much more direct driving behavior. At the same time, the diameter of the spoke flange increased. This simplifies the construction of very stable wheels.
The highlight of the rear wheel hub is the new 6-pawl freewheel system in offset design. This is characterized by the fact that three of the six pawls are always engaged when driving in order to distribute the load evenly. In addition, the freewheel toothing has been increased from 44 (Pro 4) to 54 teeth, resulting in a total of 108 locking points and a low idle travel of just 3.33°. In addition, some material has been removed from the springs of the pawls, which slightly reduces the spring force and reduces their resistance. With the Pro 5, Hope creates the right balance between smooth running and durability.
Typical for Hope is the perfect workmanship. The hub can withstand negative external influences for a long time, which is also thanks to the high-quality anodizing and the very well sealed stainless steel industrial bearings. Should the ravages of time gnaw at it at some point, it can be disassembled and serviced without much effort. In addition, conversion to a different hub standard is possible without any problems.

Based on the proven aluminum rims of the W series for mountain bikes, Syntace also developed rims for the growing bicycle category of gravel bikes and racing bikes with disc brakes. Due to the generous interior width, it offers 25 - 40 millimeter wide tires very good support, even at very low air pressures. The special inner profile of the rim ensures easy tubeless assembly without a compressor. The hooks on the rim flanges guarantee a secure fit of tubeless tires even in extreme situations. In contrast to cheaper plugged rims, the rim joint of Syntace rims is welded. This design makes the rim stiffer and leads to better concentricity in the spoked wheel. Due to the low gram, the rotating masses remain very low, which has a positive effect on acceleration.
Impeller construction at R2-Bike
Our wheels are assembled entirely by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire construction, it is important that not only the concentricity is right, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. This special care allows us to give a lifetime guarantee against broken spokes, as long as this is not caused by violence.
