When Chris King's engineers started developing the R45, everything was based on the motto "light & fast". Every detail was haggled and the result is impressive. Not only is it lighter than its predecessor, it is also significantly stiffer thanks to the 17 mm axle . As a result, it twists less and transmits steering commands very precisely. But one thing has remained, the soul of Chris King.
Due to the enlarged hub flange, shorter spokes can be used when building wheels. This not only saves weight, but also enables a very stable and durable wheel.
The heart of the hub are the ball bearings. These are also developed and produced directly by Chris King. This means that they can be fully adapted to the specific loads and forces. Due to the multiple seal, the ingress of water or dirt is almost impossible. Adjusting the bearing clearance is very simple and can also be carried out when installed.
The unmistakable sound of the freewheel is the hallmark of the rear wheel hubs. It is generated by the 45 grid points of the stainless steel toothed disc. Thanks to this 3-part ring drive system, every step is immediately converted into propulsion without much idle travel.

With this light, stable and beautifully finished carbon rim from the lightweight specialist from Leipzig, you can significantly upgrade your racer. It offers an exclusive and flawless look and has unique technical features. The one-piece monocoque construction avoids weak points from the outset. This makes the rim homogeneous, very resistant and saves weight. MCFK has opted for classic rim flanges with hooks. As a result, the tires sit securely in the rim bed at all times, even at high air pressures. The Saxons go their own way when it comes to making spoke holes. They are not drilled afterwards, which would negatively affect stability and durability, but are laminated. In addition, the nipple seat has been preformed and compacted and ensures a perfect fit, especially of DT Swiss and Sapim nipples. The asymmetrical cross-section of the rim enables very even spoke tension, which further increases the rigidity of the entire wheel. And with its enormous inner width of 21 mm, it also gives wider tires an optimally round shape and thus the best prerequisites for extra grip and comfort. Of course, you can also ride tubeless with a separately available tubeless kit.
Impeller construction at R2-Bike
Our wheels are assembled entirely by hand by our wheel builders. During the entire construction, it is important that not only the concentricity is right, but also that the spoke tension is as even as possible. The special care allows us to give a lifetime guarantee against broken spokes, as long as this is not caused by violence!
