Shimano follows suit and also relies on a 12-speed drive for the XTR M9100 group. In contrast to the competition, the Japanese give the biker the choice whether he prefers a maximum bandwidth (10-51 teeth) or a more narrowly graded cassette with lower cadence jumps when shifting (10-45 teeth). The latter should particularly accommodate XC and marathon racers, who can conserve their power reserves by pedaling in the optimal frequency range.
Soft and precise shifting has always been a trademark of Shimano cassettes. With the Hyperglide cassettes of the last generations, the sprockets were placed in such a way that the chain runs extremely smoothly and with little vibration, especially when switching to a larger sprocket. Hyperglide + introduces the XTR M9100 cassette. Thanks to this technology, the gear changes now run just as smoothly when shifting into a heavier gear and are 1/3 faster compared to the CS-M9000 cassette.
When designing the cassette, Shimano relies on a material mix of steel, titanium and aluminum for the pinions. While the smallest sprockets with the lowest chain wrap and highest load are made of steel, the middle sprockets are made of titanium and the largest sprockets are made of aluminum. This use of material in line with the load leads to even wear of the cassette and also extends the life of the chain. The cassette is held together by an aluminum spider.

YBN Yaban chain 12-speed SLA1210-TIB black
YBN's 12-speed chain is one of the lightest on the market and comes with a noble black Ti nitride coating. For a low weight without affecting the strength, the pins of the chain are drilled hollow. The long durability of the chain is achieved on the one hand by the Chromium Carbide Surface Hardened Treatment - a process which increases the hardness of the pins many times over through a special surface treatment. The chain also works with an SLA (Superior Lubricating Aid) coating. YBN has worked on the development of this Ni-PTFE Teflon coating for two years. The chain creates less friction, runs more quietly and attracts less dirt due to the smooth surface. Of course, the tabs have special processing to ensure a clean and fast switching process.
