With the TUBOLIGHT EVO, the material is exactly where it has to be, above and outside the rim bead.
Although the new shape is flatter, the portion above the rim bead is increased by 30% to 60% depending on the rim width, and together with a harder mixture, the rim hits are drastically reduced. A U-shape on the top offers space for more air tuning, apart from weight savings and thus a connection with a higher density. The super tight fit is retained as this is an incredible bonus for added lateral stability and prevents the tires from belching. The air channel between the insert and the rim acts like a valve. During an impact, some of the air molecules in the tire move from the outer part of the insert into the channel, causing a pressure differential. Since the insert is very tight at the edge, these molecules are trapped and take a fraction of the time longer to restore even pressure between the outer and inner parts. This means that in the real world, rolling resistance and tire rebound are reduced. These two properties together result in what every driver is looking for: EFFICIENCY.
Note: When using standard valves, the release of air is slightly slower due to the pressure difference between the two parts of the air volume.
