TRUTUNE activated carbon suspension fork insert for RockShox 35 / 38 short
Anyone who has long wanted their air suspension fork to behave more linearly, similar to a coil spring fork, should take a closer look at this patent-pending new development from Trutune.
This insert can be used just like a token, so simply loosen the top cap, insert the insert, close the top cap - done. However, if you now set the known air pressure as it was before, you will quickly find that it is too low. The reason for this lies in the technology of the insert. The activated carbon used has the advantage that, similar to a sponge, it can absorb more air than an empty space without this material. The air volume is thus increased. Why do you do that: This question is answered quickly. A larger air volume leads to a more linear spring characteristic in a corresponding suspension fork. This significantly improves the response behavior and a more predictable spring behavior is achieved over the entire spring travel. Light riders in particular, who previously had to make compromises when choosing air pressure and were often unable to use the entire suspension travel, benefit from the technology. But everyone else who doesn't want to commit to a total weight with a steel spring can also use the insert, e.g. B. to be able to increase the air pressure before a tour with more luggage.
This technology was originally developed for Audi, where corresponding systems have been in use since 2017. A revised version is now also available for bicycles. You can find more information about installation, for example, on the manufacturer's website.
