SRAM led with Double Tap a new switching logic in the race bike shifters. This is adapted to this lever for MTB range. In Double Tap a shift lever is sufficient to both runter- and upshift to. If the lever is pressed only briefly, the train is released and the front derailleur switches directly to the smaller sheet or the rear derailleur to the smaller sprocket. If the lever depressed, it is switched to the larger ring or sprocket. An advantage with this system is that the thumb at any time can be on the shift lever, while the index finger can rest on the brake lever. A shifting and braking is possible in any situation without change of position of the finger. The switching behavior of these levers is no matter of the switching logic as crisp and fast as it is expected of SRAM circuits. In addition, the otherwise conventional small lever can be omitted, which saves space on the dashboard.
