SRAM Rival XPLR eTap AXS Wide Disc HRD Flat Mount Gravel groupset 1x12 | 40 teeth
No matter what you understand by the term gravel, the SRAM XPLR groupsets help you to define your own riding style. With an increased gear range, robust and smooth-running components, you can tackle every climb and every adventure.
CrankThe wide version of the Rival crank has been specially developed for gravel bikes. Its widened DUB crankshaft and a 2.5 millimeter wider chainline offer sufficient tire clearance even for 2.1 inch wide tires. The Wide crank is even suitable for use on MTBs with the corresponding DUB bottom bracket. The 1x version comes with a Direct Mount chainring with 40 or 46 teeth. In addition to saving weight by eliminating the front derailleur, a 1x drivetrain is also less prone to failure and more intuitive to shift than a 2x system. The SRAM X-Sync tooth profile with alternating thick and thin teeth (narrow-wide), tried and tested in the MTB sector, ensures that the chain sits securely on the chainring. The Rival is visually impressive with its polished, black aluminium crankarms, which are available in lengths from 160 to 175 millimetres. The crankshaft was developed for the new DUB Road bottom bracket standard for a further range of applications. The crankshaft is compatible with all standard bottom bracket housings via the corresponding DUB bottom bracket. With the SRAM Quarq AXS Powermeter Kit available in our store, the crank can be upgraded to a power measurement system.
Shift brake lever including hydraulic disc brakeWith the Rival eTap AXS HRD shift-brake system, you can brake comfortably and in a controlled manner from any position and transmit your shift commands wirelessly. In contrast to the Red AXS and Force AXS shifters, the hoods of the Rival have become significantly flatter and narrower. Not only do they look great, they are also compatible with all hand sizes. The textured shift paddles and rubber grips are also new for even more control and comfort. The grip width adjustment on the brake lever ensures the best possible ergonomics, while the integration of the Rival into the AXS platform offers you the option of adapting the shifters to your personal preferences, evaluating your shifting behaviour or updating the firmware via the associated smartphone app. In addition to the freely selectable assignment of the shift buttons, the derailleur can also be operated in semi-automatic mode, in which the rear derailleur and front derailleur synchronize automatically and you only have to choose between a lighter and heavier gear. However, there are no ports for additional shifters (blips), as found on the Red/Force AXS units, on the Rival AXS shifters. The two-piece brake caliper, based on the award-winning HydroHC platform, is beyond reproach in terms of braking performance and heat management.
Paceline brake discs | Center LockThe new Paceline brake rotors take up the elegant design of the eTap AXS Road groupsets. They have a redesigned braking surface with equally redesigned ventilation holes for even smoother and lower-vibration braking performance. The rounded edges on the top of the rotor minimize the risk of injury and comply with the guidelines of the UCI cycling world federation. A further advantage is that they make it easier to install the wheel, as the rounded top prevents jamming in the brake calliper.
Rear derailleurThe new single-speed specific Rival XPLR rear derailleur has been specially developed for the needs of modern gravel riders. In combination with the matching XPLR cassette with 10-44 teeth, it gives you enough range to climb any climb. Narrow gear steps on the smaller sprockets help you to maintain your comfortable cadence at high speeds. In-house technologies that have been tried and tested over many years ensure the necessary reliability for use in rough off-road conditions. The electronic wireless eTap shifting logic ensures intuitive shifting processes and simple setup. You can personalize the shifting behavior via the AXS APP. Enlarged derailleur pulleys with proven X-Sync Narrow-Wide tooth profile keep the chain securely in place, even in the toughest conditions. A spring clutch is also used to dampen vibrations. The necessary power is supplied by the tried and tested SRAM eTap battery (not included), with which you can operate the rear derailleur for over 1000 kilometers or around 60 riding hours. An ANT+ transmitter integrated in the rear derailleur enables communication between your bike computer and the rear derailleur, allowing you to display the battery charge status and the current gear in your cockpit.
CassetteMore range for unlimited gravel adventures. The new XPLR XG-1251 cassette with 10-44 teeth offers you enough gear range for the steepest climbs as well as for fast flat sections. Its X-Range transmission has a smooth gear progression and finely graduated smaller sprockets so that you can always maintain your comfortable cadence. Its tool steel sprockets are connected to each other via pins using the SRAM mini-cluster design. Its tool steel sprockets are connected to each other via pins using the SRAM mini-cluster design. In contrast to the lighter XG-1271 cassette, the 44-tooth final sprocket is also made of steel. The sprockets are nickel-chrome plated for long durability and smooth chain running. The cassette is compatible with all SRAM XPLR rear derailleurs and SRAM Flattop 12-speed chains. It can be mounted on all hubs with XDR freehub bodies.
ChainIntroduced with the SRAM RED and Force eTap AXS groupsets, the Rival chain was also designed according to the elegant and innovative Flattop design. The shape of the plates allows the chain to be made narrower and lighter. The resulting greater distance between the outer plates and the sprockets leads to smoother chain running and more precise shifting. As a positive side effect, the service life of the chain is also increased. Nickel-coated outer and inner plates and hard chrome treatment of the rivet pins also ensure a longer service life.
Charger/batteriesThe integrated batteries on the rear derailleur and front derailleur have a range of over 1000 kilometers. The charge status can be read at any time via LED lights. The batteries for the rear derailleur and front derailleur are identical and can therefore be replaced on the move. The batteries are recharged within an hour using the charger supplied.
